LIV GOLF JEDDAH

March 3, 2024

Anthony Kim

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Royal Greens Golf & Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. 12 years away from the game that you love; how do you assess your first week back?

ANTHONY KIM: Obviously it was a rough week. I'm excited to be playing professional golf again. I feel very blessed that I have this opportunity. I've got a lot to work on, but I had a lot of good things go my way this week. So I'm looking forward to building on that and being in contention at some point this year.

Q. What are some of the positives that you can take with you to Hong Kong?

ANTHONY KIM: I'm definitely hitting the ball well. I'm doing a lot of things well. I know the scores don't reflect that. It's disappointing to score that way. But at the same time, I know I have a lot to build on, and I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing.

Q. What has it meant to have your daughter and your wife both here to watch you back doing what you love?

ANTHONY KIM: It means everything. I'm grateful that I have this opportunity to create memories with my family. This experience is amazing. Everyone at LIV has been first class, and I feel honored to be a part of this organization. Moving forward, I hope to represent them well.

Q. The last two rounds you seemed to find a rhythm after a touch stretch, both yesterday and today. Did you feel that, that it just took a few holes to get into that rhythm?

ANTHONY KIM: Yeah. I've been saying it for the last three days, but I definitely played a lot better than the score actually showed. I felt more comfortable today than I did the first two days. I shot 4-over par, but it could have been an under-par round if I had just cleaned up a few things.

Unfortunately it's still taking me a couple holes to get comfortable. I think most of my over-par scores are the first six holes. If I can just figure a way to get my mind right before I get out there, I think I'll be in great shape.

Q. Obviously this is a different format than a regular tour event. Did you feel like it took a while to adjust to that, shotgun start --

ANTHONY KIM: No. It's interesting because I didn't even have a marker in my pocket on the first hole when I started the golf tournament. There's a lot of things that I'm getting used to, and these changes are obviously unfamiliar to me, seeing as I haven't played much golf over the last 12 and a half years.

Q. Will you walk away today feeling very encouraged, despite the score? You've got something to work on, that type of thing?

ANTHONY KIM: Yeah, 1,000 percent. I'm more encouraged after playing this tournament and playing like ass, really. But I'm very encouraged. I'm excited about what's coming. My game is starting to shape up. I'm doing things that I used to do before.

I'm just looking forward to a great year.

Q. What was the best thing about your game this week?

ANTHONY KIM: Well, today the best thing about my game was me committing to my shots. It didn't have to do with my golf swing. My swing is fine. I'm putting, I'm chipping, I'm doing everything well. I'm just not as focused as I need to be over the shots.

I think that that's just time and some more repetition. I think I can take care of that pretty quickly.

Q. Which was the one shot in the 54 holes that really made you feel that you are still Anthony Kim?

ANTHONY KIM: On the second to last hole of my round today, I had a shot where I had to hit it in between the trees with a hook lie and out of the dirt, and I was able to hit a really solid shot out of there and really focus. That's something that I haven't been able to do the first three days.

To be able to pull that shot off, even though it was one shot, it was great for my mind and gives me a lot of confidence going into next week.
