AFRICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

February 24, 2024

Matthew Bramford

Malelane, Mpumalanga, South Africa

Quick Quotes

Q. Final round 68; how would you describe your performance today?

MATTHEW BRAMFORD: It was really good, but I don't know, there were a couple mistakes out there. But I think I didn't give up until the end. Just kept fighting. I was fortunate to get a couple putts drop at the end. But otherwise very happy with the performance.

Q. Good front nine, three birdies in a row. How were you feeling at that point?

MATTHEW BRAMFORD: I was actually feeling pretty good. Obviously the front nine has been the tough nine this week, and I think I put myself in really good position to go and shoot a good score on the back nine.

Q. The birdie on the last there, obviously satisfying?

MATTHEW BRAMFORD: Yes, especially after the tee shot. Very happy. It's a tough pin.

Q. Top 10 finish, potentially top 5 finish. How satisfying has the overall week been for you?

MATTHEW BRAMFORD: It's been amazing. To shoot such good scores at a really tough golf course, couldn't be happier.

Q. In terms of the championship, how important is it for Africa, bringing players from all nations here to Leopard Creek to compete?

MATTHEW BRAMFORD: I think it's huge. I mean, for just Africans just to play this event, have a chance to go to the Open, it's certainly nothing like I've ever played before.
