Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess those six and a half holes?

SAHITH THEEGALA: I'm glad they're over with. It was pretty smooth sailing the first two rounds, and golf is hard, and there's going to be tough patches, and I think I hit one of them just to start the round. Just kind of a tactical error on 1, and 2 is a hard hole and I just hit a poor drive. I'm fine with that bogey.

But the 5 on 1 and the 5 on 3 were definitely a bummer. But actually hit some really nice shots the last four holes. At least good to go into tomorrow with that kind of momentum. I hit some really nice shots on 4 and 5 to kind of save these six and a half holes, I guess.

I thought that front nine was actually playing pretty tough, especially if you're not in the fairway. I'm glad we got the tee shot on 7 off. That would have been a tough one to start on.

Q. What was the thought on 7? It looked like you were looking for the horn.

SAHITH THEEGALA: Yeah, I joked with Novak that I'm going to take about nine different looks at this putt. Give me a warning or whatever. It's an up-and-over putt from maybe 35, 40 feet, and it's just not one that you want to hit when you can't really see. Just took my time on that.

Q. What were the crowds like out there for you today? What did you see on the grounds as a whole?

SAHITH THEEGALA: Yeah, it was pretty epic. A lot of -- just hearing the cheers is pretty epic. A bunch of guys with my name and my face on shirts out there. The officer was telling me people got too drunk. But it was all in good fun, and hopefully everyone stayed safe.

It's a blast. It's a blast. There's definitely some people that aren't the best drunks, but for the most part it's all positive, and it's a fun atmosphere.

You do have to block some of it out at certain times. That's for sure. But still kind of in full embrace mode.

Q. What's the mindset going into tomorrow? It's supposed to be like 34, so frost delays probably likely.

SAHITH THEEGALA: Yeah, I felt like I had a 12-hour day the first day, nothing yesterday, and then another 12-plus-hour day today. So ready for another 10-, 12-hour day tomorrow. It's been a weird week, and I'm actually really exhausted right now. It's not often you play two days of -- not necessarily even a lot of holes but just a lot going on.

I'm going to sleep nice tonight. I'm going to get dinner and straight to bed.
