AUSTRALIAN OPEN

January 16, 2024

Zheng Qinwen

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Press Conference

Z. QINWEN/A. Krueger

3-6, 6-2, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Congratulations, winning your first match here. Just talk us through your thoughts on the match and how you felt you played today.

ZHENG QINWEN: Actually I think I start the match quite slow, but obviously the opponent was serving really good. She had a strong first serve and then fast second serve as a girl. So that was difficult.

I was struggling by being break from her at I remember 4-3. That was a really long game. Then after I lost that game, the set just went fast for her.

But I'm so happy I was able to stay focused and trying to find a way, even I was not feeling that good today, and to try to keep my tennis being better on court.

After the match more is going, the more I start to feel the rhythm is back, and I start to perform better and better.

Yeah, and the third set also wasn't easy. I was 3-1 up with a break, and directly she breaks me back. The match was really equal.

Yeah, actually when I try to put the return back, she's -- in the baseline games I feel if I get in the long rally, most of the times I won the point. Yeah, that was not much to say here.
