AUSTRALIAN OPEN

January 17, 2024

Adrian Mannarino

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Press Conference

A. MANNARINO/J. Munar

6-3, 6-3, 1-6, 2-6, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Adrian, congrats on reaching the third round of the Australian Open. How do you reflect on your match today?

ADRIAN MANNARINO: Well, it was another long match. Happy I got through, but yeah, it was not easy.

I didn't expect my opponent to play that well today. I think it was a pretty good match in the first two sets. I was playing really well. He didn't have so many opportunity.

Then beginning of the third set I thought that he would somehow try to try some new things or try new play a little bit in a bad way, but, no, actually he kept on going. He played pretty well.

At this point maybe I was a little bit too defensive, and then he started to take the lead. I don't know, beginning of the fifth set I started to serve a little bit better. I was able to hold my serve.

And then I had one occasion to break him in the second game, and then finally I broke him at 2-1. So that made the switch. But, yeah, it was a really good match, I think.
