Chan Kim

La Quinta, California, USA

PGA WEST Pete Dye Stadium Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Great start. If we could get some comments on what you felt good about?

CHAN KIM: Actually, coming into this week I've put in new irons, new ball, new driver. So, yeah, I switched up a lot of my bag, but the Ping guys have helped me out with that. We found a better fit, and all of my distances were right on today. I made a few putts, missed a couple that I could have made, but just felt very comfortable all day.

Q. Actually, just did have one last question. You were talking about your history and how much experience you've had all around the world. How much has all of that helped shape you as a person and a player out here as a rookie on the PGA TOUR?

CHAN KIM: Yeah, obviously, playing overseas, you'll get some that are tree lined, you'll play a whole bunch of different golf courses, different conditions. I think that's really helped me to get comfortable on any TOUR that I've kind of progressed through. Obviously, now I'm playing on the biggest stage, with the best players in the world, so it is a bit nerve wracking, but I'm just kind of telling myself that I've got to treat it like I'm playing at home just with a few buddies. Luckily, I've got a great friend of mine on the bag, and so he keeps me calm and, yeah, hopefully, I can just keep that mentality and just keep it going.
