Quick Quotes

^

Q. Cam, nice finish to battle back. How would you assess what you were able to do?

CAM DAVIS: I mean, I was struggling to hit two good shots in a row today. I was trying to lean on all the things I feel like I've been doing well in order to get some consistency, and I felt like I would get two or three in a row and then it would disappear and then it would come back.

My poor shots left me in some really tough spots today, so some good bogeys I made just to hang the round together. But to finish strong, I felt like I just hit three or four really nice shots in a row and capitalized with some nice putts.

Yeah, feels good to turn that round around to an even par round and keep myself in it.

Q. It's always the narrative it's so hard to back up a super low round. Why do you think that is?

CAM DAVIS: I feel for a lot of guys, including myself, the expectations always go up when you start playing well. You almost expect to hit it well. There wasn't a lot of that today but there was a little bit. I'm sure first time I was 2- or 3-over for the round the expectations had lowered down to where all of a sudden I could gain some confidence from some good shots.

It's hard to maintain the same thoughts that you were doing the day before. Almost feels like you're on autopilot. You're not getting ahead of yourself, you're not stuck in the past. When you have something working you make sure you keep concentrating on that thing.

Sometimes the next day that same thought doesn't quite work. That's golf.

But, no, the endless search for that little feeling that ends up working multiple weeks in a row.

Q. Did you keep the same kind of swing thought from yesterday to today?

CAM DAVIS: Yeah, just woke up a little different and the tempo was a little different. Swing thoughts are good, but if you can't quite put that swing on the ball, then you need to pick it apart and figure out what the part is that's not working right and pull it back together.

Fortunately wasn't too far off. Still a lot of good shots out there today. Just the poor ones were in some rough spots. Yeah, keep riding off the good ones and bring back some of the form from yesterday, that would be perfect.

Q. Did you guys get together last night with the crew after the round? Such a quick turnaround.

CAM DAVIS: It was a quick turnaround. It was find the quickest food we could and get to bed as early as we could. Yeah, it was a quiet one last night. Might spend a little bit more time together today.

Q. Overall you still feel good about your position? Still tied for the lead and good chance into the weekend.

CAM DAVIS: Yeah, still playing good golf. I feel like the longer I'm out here and the more chances I have the less you panic when things start going the wrong direction. You want to be the guy that starts off strong and keeps it going.

Today was a little bit of a hiccup. We still finished with birdie and eagle on the last few holes and some good stuff in there. We'll ride off that and bring it into tomorrow.

Q. Any practice this afternoon?

CAM DAVIS: Keep it to a minimum. I think the walk last week has taken it out of the legs a little bit. I'm playing next week, too, so I want to cruise a little bit and trust the swing is not far away.
