THE SENTRY

January 7, 2024

JT Poston

Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii, USA

Plantation Course at Kapalua

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you sort of assess the week?

JT POSTON: Low scores. Always a great week. Great place to start, obviously, here in Maui. As far as the golf goes, there's a lot of birdie out there, especially today. No wind, really. Got to make some putts, make some birdies to keep up.

Q. What were you most impressed with, with your game coming out of the break?

JT POSTON: I worked on it pretty good, but a big thing for me this year was the driver and driving it well. I actually drove it really well these first few rounds, then okay yesterday. I drove it a lot better today. Obviously, wide fairways, but just nice to hit it where I'm looking.

Q. Moving to Waialae now, what do you truly enjoy about the challenges that Waialae presents?

JT POSTON: I think Waialae when it gets firm you really have to plot your way around, which I like. It can get really firm there. Looks like we're going to get some rain, so I don't know if it will quite play like that. You just have to hit it in the right spots off the tees. Kind of takes driver out of your hand on several holes. It's kind of a more strategic week, as opposed to here you're hitting a lot of drivers and kind of busting it down there and having wedges in.

Q. Is it an advantage playing Waialae after you play Kapalua?

JT POSTON: Maybe getting used to the wind. They're so very different golf courses. You come out here and you're looking at fairways that, some of these fairways are, feel like they're a hundred yards wide. Then you get to Waialae and they all look like they're about 15 yards wide. That to me always feels like it's a little tough going to Waialae after seeing these wide fairways. Playing in the wind and getting used to the grass, time change and all that is obviously a bonus.
