CHICK-FIL-A PEACH BOWL: OLE MISS VS PENN STATE

December 27, 2023

Ty Howle

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Penn State Nittany Lions

Quick Quotes

TY HOWLE: You come in Sunday after a tough game, trying to pick those guys back up and make sure their heads are held high because. At the end of the day, the next team doesn't care about what happened last week. So you have to learn and grow from it, and then you've got to move on and prepare for your next opponent.

Ultimately, kind of the thing we talked about, it's about us and what we're going to do this week. So I do think it was a good message and those things, but I think, when we left the room, hey, guys, we're unified. We're going to go win the rest of our games. We're going to have fun. We're going to put you guys in a position to be successful. When we walked out of that meeting, we were going to prepare for Rutgers.

Q. You've accomplished that to this point?

TY HOWLE: I think we've done a good job of putting our players in positions to be successful and allowing these guys -- we talk about simplicity equals speed, allowing these guys to play fast and use the gifts that they have and the talents. So I think that's been a real positive.

Q. How do you build off a finish to the regular season you guys feel like you had the last couple weeks? And where do you feel like you've been able to improve more during the bowl practice?

TY HOWLE: I think the big thing is sending these seniors out the right way with a win in the Peach Bowl. These guys that aren't coming back next year put a lot of time and effort into our program and have done a lot for this program. So being able to send them out on a high note with a win in a great bowl like the Peach Bowl is the first thing that's important.

I think the growth from bowl practices, it's like having another spring practice. So it's being able to get some of the younger players a head start on the next season, build confidence in those guys. Then obviously fine tuning the details that go into this game plan to ultimately send these guys out the right way.
