CHICK-FIL-A PEACH BOWL: OLE MISS VS PENN STATE

December 27, 2023

Trey Washington

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Ole Miss Rebels

Quick Quotes

TREY WASHINGTON: Obviously him wanting to take your head off makes you want to suit up and be ready to go. But for a running back like that, you've got to be ready to go.

Q. With Singleton, Allen and Singleton complement each other pretty well. What kind of stands out to you? He had a quieter season this year, but still has some explosive as well. What do you notice about Singleton?

TREY WASHINGTON: I think he does a good job of being physical and running through arm tackles. That's one thing that stood out to me.

Q. The Penn State wide receivers this year had a down year. When you look at that position group, is there any player that stands out to you or just kind of the way the scheme is right now?

TREY WASHINGTON: Yeah, No. 6, he's injured, but I actually played seven-on-seven with him. Trey, that's the dude I've been rooting for. Obviously No. 1, he stood out to me too. He runs good routes and good at rack yards too.

Q. What stood out to you about Trey? He's kind of a quieter guy?

TREY WASHINGTON: At seven-on-seven, you'd better be ready and jump with him because he has the jump ball skills. You'd better be ready.

Q. What was the freakiest play you saw him make on seven-on-seven?

TREY WASHINGTON: I think it was a back shoulder he caught on one hand, and the dude jumps, and he took it off his head. So, yeah, I've been used to seeing that since high school.

Q. Was that in Alabama?

TREY WASHINGTON: Yes, Alabama.

Q. And you were in the same seven-on-seven?

TREY WASHINGTON: Yes.

Q. I think James Franklin and Lane are on the same page wanting to get their guys to the bowl, wanting their guys to play in the bowl game. What's it like over the course of the season when a coach is fostering that culture to get guys that they want to be here, that they want to play in this game?

TREY WASHINGTON: Yeah, it's very admirable. Obviously you have brothers you want to play with. The other team, you want to go against their best guys too. So it's admirable for sure.

Q. We did see Trey Wallace practicing a couple days ago. What would it mean for you guys to suit up against him?

TREY WASHINGTON: It would be a real fun thing knowing we had seven-on-seven experience, seeing how far we made it, it would be really surreal.
