LPGA Q-SERIES

November 30, 2023

Savannah Viaubi

Mobile, Alabama, USA

Magnolia Grove

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Savannah, 3-under round to start your LPGA Q-Series. What was the preparation like heading into this week?

SAVANNAH VIAUBI: The preparation, so this time off, we used it as like a maintenance type of approach rather than, okay, let's take a week or two off and get back into it.

Felt like I ended the season pretty strong this year, so it was just maintenance, touching up on wedges that needed work; worked on 40 feet and 4 feet with the putter; just making sure I can find fairways with the drive.

It literally was just an all-encompassing practice and playing as much as I could, seeing my coach, working out, so just everything kind of went into it.

Q. This morning a little bit colder than usual. How do you mentally and physically prepare for a round that is going to be chillier in the morning?

SAVANNAH VIAUBI: I tell you what, proper layers go a long way. I just got into golf vests, so that was a huge service. Mentally you have to I think not be surprised by how short maybe the ball will go or what the yardage adjustment is.

So mentally we knew what to expect. We weren't going to let our ego get the best of us and try to muscle a club because we should hit it a certain number.

We were just really mentally prepared for the ball not flying as far, and our layers and hand warmers did the rest of the work.

Q. Fell a little bit short this year on the Epson Tour but did get a win.

SAVANNAH VIAUBI: Yeah.

Q. How does that win help you prepare for this week?

SAVANNAH VIAUBI: So I think it does really well to know that you can play with nerves. You know, pressure, it's all context. You can say it doesn't exist; you can say it really exists.

Overall just have to understand that it's going to feel a certain type of way to play with nerves, and if they come up during this tournament, which they will, which they did today in a very exciting way, you know that you've done it before.

I played well with this type of climate and you can come out on top.

Q. Then the Epson corporation paid for the entree fee into this week.

SAVANNAH VIAUBI: Oh, my gosh, yes.

Q. What does that mean coming at the end of the season getting that bill fronted for you heading into this week?

SAVANNAH VIAUBI: Gosh, getting that bill fronted for us by the Epson Tour was just incredible. It's a huge relief. I know a lot of players will talk about that, too. It takes the pressure off trying to stretch the dollar.

Now it's like, let's let my work show up and represent me the best way I can. You want to play for someone other than yourself, too, and I think that gives a really good opportunity to do so that.

You feel like you have a ton of support from the Epson Tour and you're I guess proud to play and show up the best version of yourself.
