DP WORLD TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

November 18, 2023

Ewen Ferguson

Dubai, UAE

Jumeirah Golf Estates, Earth Course

Quick Quotes

Q. The course was gettable with the rain today, but a 64 and a clean card, you must be thrilled?

EWEN FERGUSON: Yeah, definitely. Every time I play this course, I always play in the afternoon, I never play in the morning. That's the way I'm used to playing it, with the second hole being able to get up in two. That's the way I'm used to it.

I felt a lot more comfortable today being able to get to the second, so I already knew before I got to the tee box what I was going to do. The last two days playing in the morning, was obviously wind. I was like, well, not really what I was used to.

It was used to play like that today, and then obviously shooting a nice score always helps.

Q. With the exception of Matt Wallace, you have the lowest round in the clubhouse, his unofficial 60. What was it about the course today that was so much more gettable?

EWEN FERGUSON: Honestly, I don't really know why it was more gettable. I think we all know it a bit better now. I think that wind suits the course, so you can get up to the par 5s in two easier. A couple of the pin positions -- because everyone is so good out here, I think on any given day, someone can do it. And today it was obviously a couple of guys, and that's just the way it is out here sometimes.

Q. There's a massive disparity here between the front nine and back nine, but what do you need to do tomorrow to make sure you're doing something special?

EWEN FERGUSON: Just the same kind of stuff as today really. I really enjoyed it, family are out, everyone enjoying themselves. Not even thinking about winning or anything. The quality of field is so strong every time I look up at the leaderboard, I can't believe that I'm in the same position as like Fleetwood and Hovland and these guys.

And obviously I played with Shane today and I was just trying to impress him to be honest. Yeah, I was happy with that, and hopefully tomorrow get another really good draw and kind of hold onto them and try and impress the guy I'm playing with, really.

Q. It's weeks like these that you guys dream of being at and you're here in contention. Do you allow yourself to think about the possibility of tomorrow?

EWEN FERGUSON: Yeah, I think about it straightaway. Go work on my putting a wee bit and go home tonight and go in the pool and just chill. Pretty much the same stuff.

But I've been in contention quite a lot out here now and then played -- I think if you're there or thereabouts with nine holes to go, that's where it's at. Even if you're in the top five, nine holes to go, chip-in somewhere, you hole a shot, something always happens on Sunday for the winner, a little bit of luck somewhere and hopefully I get that luck tomorrow.
