LPGA Q-SERIES

October 20, 2023

Amelia Garvey

Mobile, Alabama, USA

Magnolia Grove

Quick Quotes

Q. Kind of a roller coaster today. Talk about your round a little bit.

AMELIA GARVEY: I started off horrendously. 4-over through like seven holes I think or eight holes. Felt like a 30 handicapper, but managed to pull myself together with two birdies to finish the front nine, and then just came in really steady. Played smart golf and knew I didn't need to be a hero today. Just got it round.

Q. Didn't have to be a hero. Gave yourself a bit of cushion all three days before. What's it like going into the top 10 knowing you had the cushion before you go into the round today?

AMELIA GARVEY: Definitely doing some maths out there in terms of what I could do coming down the stretch to still make it. Yeah, it was really nice to just be able to put up a pretty average round today and make it easily.

Q. Going into Q-III and qualifying still, first time there?

AMELIA GARVEY: Second.

Q. Second time there. Talk about how Epson has got you there so far. Like what has the tour done to help you prepare for competitive golf?

AMELIA GARVEY: How has Epson helped me in terms of getting through Stage III? I mean, playing competitive golf all year really helps. Yeah, and I think most of the girls there will be a lot of Epson girls out there. Obviously the top 35.

So I know how my game compares against those girls and I'm just really excited to still have a shot at the card come the end of the year.

Q. What was the plan going into this week? Finishing 36 on the Money List, not getting that exemption going in, missed it by $100. What did that feel like and what motivated you to get here today?

AMELIA GARVEY: Yeah, it sucked. I don't know, I just tried to forget about it as soon as I could. I think the more I thought about to the more pissed off I was getting.

At the end of the day just because I lost by $100 it didn't mean anything. Just the same as someone who's 125 on the Money List. This week I can earn it again and I did that, which I'm really proud of.
