AL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: RANGERS VS ASTROS

October 19, 2023

Jordan Montgomery

Arlington, Texas, USA

Globe Life Field

Texas Rangers

Pregame 4 Press Conference

Q. Does anything change tomorrow from what you did in Game 1?

JORDAN MONTGOMERY: Probably going to have to do something different. I think the Astros are such a good team and such a good lineup that it's hard to get them out the same way. So we'll kind of just see how the game goes.

Q. Do you feel the confidence, momentum building with each start you make at this stage?

JORDAN MONTGOMERY: Pretty confident every time I go out there. Moving good, throwing well. But it's playoffs. If you're not excited to go out there and just compete, then something's wrong.

Q. I was going to ask you about the makeup of this team. I know you're one of the guys that have been added on, but when you look at those homegrown guys, Leody, Evan, and Josh, and I know Josh was hurt part of the time, you and Evan only came up late, but what's your impression of those guys and what they can mean for a franchise moving forward?

JORDAN MONTGOMERY: They're great. Very seldom do you see true rookies come up and carry themselves the way they do. They all work so hard, and it's just -- you could have told me they've been around for five, six years, ten years and I would have believed you.

Q. Here in this ballpark the Astros have put up 47 runs in the last four games, if you go back to the September series. How important is it for this club, and obviously that falls on you, to stop that bleeding today, tomorrow?

JORDAN MONTGOMERY: Obviously you want to not give up runs. So, I mean, yeah. It's important.

Q. What did you think of Max last night coming back after being out for more than a month and pitching in that kind of environment and doing what he did last night?

JORDAN MONTGOMERY: He's such a competitor. Obviously he wanted the ball and had his focus on getting back as healthy as he could as soon as he could. And we're happy to have him back.

Q. Just curious, facing a hitter as hot as Yordan Alvarez, were there conversations with you and the pitching staff collectively on how you guys are going to continue to approach as you face that guy?

JORDAN MONTGOMERY: Yeah, we prep for every game. So kind of just got to -- I don't know, I don't know -- we're working on it.
