NL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: DIAMONDBACKS VS PHILLIES

October 17, 2023

Geraldo Perdomo

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Citizens Bank Park

Arizona Diamondbacks

Pregame 2 Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: We're going to open it up for questions.

Q. What was the mood in the clubhouse, and what will be different today as compared to yesterday?

GERALDO PERDOMO: We have the same mood. Nothing changed. We lost yesterday. Everybody knows that, right? But it doesn't mean anything to us. We just come with the same energy. We're hungry. We have to play fun baseball today. That's all.

Q. (Question in Spanish.)

GERALDO PERDOMO: He is one of the best pitchers we have. So it's like I said yesterday, I think our playing today for Merrill is offensive. We just have to get on base for him. If we get some runs early for him, he is going to do his job. He's very confident, and I put all my money on him.

Q. Geraldo, do you think there's a reason that you guys haven't been quite as aggressive base stealing in the playoffs as you were in the regular season, you know, in most of these games?

GERALDO PERDOMO: I mean, everybody know that we can run. I think they're even more quick to the plate. That's why we've been a little bit more quiet in the base. But every time we have the opportunity, we're going to run, you know. That's the only difference.

Q. What did you think of the crowd noise last night? What did you think of the Philly fans?

GERALDO PERDOMO: It was fun, honestly. I like to play like that. For me, me personally, it doesn't matter. The crowd was amazing. Same as the crowd we have at home last week. I like to play under that kind of situation like that.

Q. Can you just talk about the challenge that it is coming over from the Dominican and learning the language and everything you've been through over the last five years or so?

GERALDO PERDOMO: It's kind of hard, you know. I have to say, thank God for me being a little bit bilingual. I'm still working on my English a little bit. But I remember my first year when I came to the States, I can't speak. I can't talk or anything, you know.

I remember I went to a restaurant, and I just do like -- signing like this or maybe in Spanish. I can understand a lot. It was hard in the beginning, but I think right now it's a little bit better. I can talk a little bit more fluent and talk with you guys.
