Karis Davidson

Qizhong Garden Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Karis, an electric round today.

KARIS DAVIDSON: Yeah.

Q. Just want to know what the mindset was from the jump knowing that today was going to be a gettable day?

KARIS DAVIDSON: Honestly I just did what I've been doing all week. I was really nervous this morning, so just trying to keep composed. And I hit the ball so good on the front nine could have been three more birdies, but the back nine like I just had a few awkward numbers.

Hit a couple slack shots, like cost me a bogey, but like had a couple lip-outs for birdies as well. It was really close.

Q. The front nine, especially when you started those consecutive birdies, especially in the last couple holes on the front nine, when did everything start clicking during this round?

KARIS DAVIDSON: Well, I mean, I felt pretty good all week. You know, I felt like my rhythm was really good so I was literally focusing on that all day because when you get under pressure you start trying to hit it harder.

Yeah, pretty much from the start.

Q. How important was capitalizing on the par-5s, just throughout this entire week, but for you we saw some chances at eagles and also the eagle yesterday at 17.

KARIS DAVIDSON: Yeah, I think the par-5s around here are very gettable. If you hit a good drive it's a good opportunity to go for the green. Unfortunately on the back nine today I hit -- I didn't do too well on the par-5s.

On 17 my putt lipped out, so I was a bit gutted, but that's just golf.

Q. Walking off, I know it's not maybe the result you wanted, but at the end of the day your first top 10 finish, individual top 10 finish on the LPGA Tour. What does it mean to see all your work come to fruition?

KARIS DAVIDSON: It's huge. I mean, this year has been so difficult mentally, so it's awesome. I don't know, but I might not need to go back to Q-School now, you know, which is huge.

Q. Is that something that was on the mind coming into the beginning of the Asia swing?

KARIS DAVIDSON: Yeah. I mean, the whole year it's always on your mind until you get that really good finish. You know, I think I need to get better at being able to not think about that as much and focus on more the positive stuff.

It's really hard to do.

Q. I know there aren't lot of leaderboards out there, but did you know where you were throughout this round? Did you try to ignore them when you could?

KARIS DAVIDSON: After making five birdies on the front I knew that I would definitely be close. Then I just tried to like keep it going, but just I wouldn't say it fell apart, but it wasn't my -- meant to be today.

But it was nice to be in contention, that's for sure.

Q. Going to Korea?

KARIS DAVIDSON: No.

Q. So you're not in Korea. You go back to Australia after this?

KARIS DAVIDSON: Yeah, uh-huh, tomorrow.

Q. Now that you've had a week like this, how do you carry a momentous week like this into your next event?

KARIS DAVIDSON: Honestly, I'm just excited to go home. Like I think that's why I also played well this week, because I knew I was going to be able to go home. So I think that's a big lesson next year. I think I'll go home more often because it's something to really look forward to.

Q. I know Hannah does that.

KARIS DAVIDSON: Yeah.

Q. That's something she's talked about over the last few years, being able to mentally reset. I know obviously you've been looking forward to it, but what do you hope gain from a couple weeks at home?

KARIS DAVIDSON: Well, just seeing everyone and being in Australia. It's hard to explain. All the girls from Australia, we love Australia. We think it's the best place. So it just -- it's just so relaxing and it's just awesome. I just love it.
