BUICK LPGA SHANGHAI

October 13, 2023

Esther Henseleit

Shanghai, China

Qizhong Garden Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Esther, another day, another solid performance. Just overall, what do you take away from day two in Shanghai?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, I play well again. I hit my driver good so I was in a good position off the tee most of the time. Yeah, pretty similar to yesterday really. Hit some close on the front. Couldn't really hole any putts. And then holed some good ones on the back nine. Hit some close.

Just another solid day.

Q. I was going to say, a lot of birdies in the last eight holes. What stood out the most on the back nine today?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: I mean, my putts were probably in between like seven to ten feet, so they weren't long putts. I hit it pretty good.

And, yeah, just good golf I guess.

Q. Yesterday Alison Lee said that it was kind of boring golf almost, but boring golf is it good golf when you're up there in contention. How do you feel overall? How would you explain your golf currently?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Probably boring for 15 holes with so many few up and downs I had to make, but my short game has been pretty good the last two days around the greens, so I didn't really leave myself with long par putts, so that was definitely the key to keep it together today.

Q. This is one of those courses where it kind of takes a little bit of strategy when it comes to making sure -- every week it's always fairways and greens. How important is it especially on those longer par-5s?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, it definitely is. I mean, if you miss the fairway sometimes you can't really get to the green because of how thick the rough is.

So, yeah, I mean, today I -- on the par-5 I hit -- I think I missed probably all the fairways on par-5s so I always had to kind of layup.

But then made the up and downs and still made birdies, so that's definitely an important part of this golf course.

Q. No one is truly running away with it after two days here. To go into the weekend after the way you have been playing, what will you focus on heading into tomorrow?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Just keep doing what I've been doing the last two days. Yeah, just keep hitting it close and be patient on the greens. Just focus on a good roll. And, yeah, I feel like my game is in a great place and I'm looking forward to the weekend.
