BUICK LPGA SHANGHAI

October 12, 2023

Alison Lee

Shanghai, China

Qizhong Garden Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Alison, very impressive round for the first day here at the Buick LPGA Shanghai. What's it like after 18 holes here?

ALISON LEE: Good. I feel like I played pretty solid. Didn't make too many mistakes. Made a couple really good putts.

Overall pretty boring round but I'm okay with boring.

Q. Boring is okay. What were some of the most memorable putts that kept the round steady?

ALISON LEE: I mean, nothing really stands out to me. Like I said it was pretty boring. The birdies I had I stuck it in fairly close. Still left a couple out there, but overall feel like I played pretty consistent, pretty solid. Didn't hit too many shots odd line.

I only probably, in my opinion, only had one pretty bad shot today, and that was on No. 18. I pulled it into the water on my approach but still got away with bogey there.

And didn't let it really affect my round. Like I said, I feel like I'm hitting it pretty good.

Yeah, this course is a great course. You have to be pretty strategic and mindful with your approach shots and make sure you have it in the correct quadrant depending where the pin is.

I feel like did I that pretty good today.

Q. What have you been working on specifically gearing up for this Asian swing of events?

ALISON LEE: It's been my putting. I would say my putting has been the thing that I feel like has been holding me back all year. Probably my driver a little here and there. But putting was good. Hit the driver pretty good today, too.

So have a really good swing thought. Was able to see my coach a few weeks ago right before coming over to this stretch of events, so, yeah.

Q. What did you work on with your swing coach? Just that driver, that aspect that you're looking to tweak a bit?

ALISON LEE: Yeah, I like to hit a little draw, and after Europe it was -- obviously hitting in windy conditions messes up your swing a bit.

So just going back to the basics and working on the same thing we've been working on and be comfortable with aiming right and hitting a draw.

I feel like I lost that feeling a little bit playing over in Europe with all the wind, just pray it ends up somewhere safe, so, yeah.
