AL DIVISION SERIES: RANGERS VS ORIOLES

October 10, 2023

Adolis Garcia

Arlington, Texas, USA

Globe Life Field

Texas Rangers

Postgame 3 Press Conference

Texas 7, Baltimore 1

Q. Talk about the home run and what was that feeling like going around the bases?

ADOLIS GARCIA: Felt really happy. It was just an exciting part of the game. Exciting moment. Happy to help out the team, have that happen.

Q. Earlier in the inning, it started with Nate Lowe, a 15-pitch at-bat. How do you think it helped the team that inning, even though he made an out?

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think that was a key at-bat in the game. It was a moment we were able to see a lot of pitches from the pitcher, just being able to stretch that out, and us take advantage of that. I think it was a great at-bat.

Q. Adolis, you're one of the few players who were here for the 102-loss season a couple years ago and last year. How much better does it feel and how does it feel to be here now?

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think that's really why I'm enjoying it so much. It's something that I was a part of that. I was part of the process. I also made my adjustments throughout that time. It's something that we're really enjoying right now. It's been a long time.

Q. You're an emotional player. You stir a lot of emotions in the fans. They came out tonight excited and made a lot of noise. I wonder what effect that had on you. You're usually doing that for them. Did that do anything for you, their reaction and how they acted?

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think it's something that we felt that connection ever since the beginning. I feel that connection with the fans. I feel that they feel same thing. I play like that. I play with my emotions. Whenever I do something well on the field, I show it. I think they appreciate that, and I think it's something that's really beautiful that we have.

Q. A lot of your teammates also talk about the energy you bring, both on the field and in the clubhouse. How do you try to spread the energy around the team and what's it mean to hear them talk about you as such a positive influence?

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think that that's just me as a person. I'm someone who arrives every day with a smile on my face. I'm always there to help everyone out. If they have any questions, I'm there to help. It's something -- they bring out the best in me. I come in with a positive mindset and that's just the way I am.

Q. Adolis, what did you see from Nathan Eovaldi and how great has he been for you all season?

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think he's been doing an incredible job. Him and the bullpen have stepped up, especially in the postseason. They've fired on all cylinders. The bullpen has stepped up as well. The key part of our success is the pitching staff has a whole has really contributed.

Q. Do you want to play the Astros or the Twins?

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think I don't really want to say a lot on that. I think we're just ready to face any opponent and anyone that's there.

Q. You seem to thrive on the big moment. You've always been that kind of player. How has the playoff experience been for you in terms of, like, what you imagined it would be like?

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think that really, you know, I've had a lot of failures in my career. I've been there at the bottom. I think when you get to that point, the one that we're at right now, you just know how to act and how to play accordingly. I've learned not to let the emotions get the best of me. So I think that's something that's applied.

Q. We all know what kind of hitter Corey is. When they walk him and then you and Mitch come up right behind him, how hard is that for opposing teams? I mean, Corey's Corey, but there's not really a good person to pitch to in this lineup.

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think that what Corey is doing is really out of this world. That's the way to describe it. You know he's going to bring it every single day. He's going to be a pro and do what has to be done. It motivates us to lead and follow his example and try to continue building on that success is that he's having.

Q. Adolis, at what point in this season did you believe that this team could do this?

ADOLIS GARCIA: I think since the first day, really, since Spring Training. I think when we came in at Spring Training, we saw the team we had, the group that we had. I think all of us really believed since the first time in spring training.

Thank you.
