SANDERSON FARMS CHAMPIONSHIP

October 7, 2023

Cameron Champ

Jackson, Mississippi, USA

Country Club of Jackson

Quick Quotes

Q. Cameron, 7-under 65 to get to 15-under and get yourself in the mix heading into the final round. How would you assess that round today and the situation that you're in?

CAMERON CHAMP: Yeah, again, today went solid. I've been driving it well. Today I felt like the iron play was a little bit better, and even when I got out of position, I was able to get it on the green.

I think I made two birdies, maybe three from the rough.

Then I've been putting it well.

Like you said, I think everything today kind of came together. It was nice and smooth. Like I said, I just felt like I had control of my ball, and then on the greens I've been confident.

Q. Coming back here, you won your first title here in 2018. I think you shot 64 in the third round that week when you won.

CAMERON CHAMP: Yeah.

Q. When you come back here, obviously you must have good vibes, good thoughts, having had a victory here.

CAMERON CHAMP: I do, yeah. I love the golf course. Obviously if I can drive it well here, it definitely sets me up, and I've been able to do that so far.

Today I think I finally took advantage of that. The first two rounds -- the first day, I felt like I didn't make as many putts. Even yesterday was kind of iron play and chipping around the greens. I hit some decent shots in front of par-5s and just into-the-grain chips I kind of struggled with those yesterday, but today I was fine.

If I can just do that, kind of go about my day like I did today, we'll just see where I stand after.

Q. You became a father recently. How has that adjustment been for you and your wife?

CAMERON CHAMP: Yeah, it's been a blessing. It's also been learning how to run on two to three hours of sleep. He's going on 10 weeks now, but yeah, it's been amazing. He's definitely been a true blessing. Brings a different perspective on things.

Right now, it's been fun. It's been tiring, but I think all the positives oversee all the negatives that come with a newborn. Yeah, we're excited just to see him grow and see what happens.

Q. You came into this week No. 145 in the FedExCup. How do you look at this FedEx Fall as an opportunity for you to move up?

CAMERON CHAMP: Yeah, like you said, I think I'm in a good space right now. The game has been good. It's just a matter of allowing myself to be able to play and kind of just get out of my way.

This week it's been a nice fresh kind of start, and like I said, just try to play my game, and I know if I do that, I'll be perfectly fine. This game is already hard enough, so we definitely don't need to make it harder on ourselves.

Q. Is your intention to play pretty much everything in the fall or sort of see what happens in the next few weeks?

CAMERON CHAMP: Yeah, my intention was to just keep playing. I wouldn't see myself taking much off, especially with the schedule.

I'm just going to go out there the same as I have this week and just stay within myself, play my game, and hopefully we get some good results.
