Golf Clubs at The Tribute

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, joined by Sarah Kemp. Sarah, 6-under as the week has gone on; 2-under today. What was working so well for you?

SARAH KEMP: I stayed really patient. It was a tough day to begin with. The wind was pretty strong for like the first nine holes, so I knew that I was going to make some bogeys. I knew everyone probably was going to.

So just did a really good job mentally. Not getting too mad when I had a bogey, and, yeah, made some really good par-saving putts that helped, too.

Q. We saw the big one on 18. Fired the ball into the crowd. What went into that putt? What were you thinking? Take us through your last putt.

SARAH KEMP: Yeah, it was just straight up the hill and it just caught the right edge, which was really nice. The crowds have been awesome I got a bit of a big cheer and I thought I'll try and make them cheer even louder, so just turned around and tried to throw it in the crowd. I don't think it made it.

Q. A little too high.

SARAH KEMP: Oh, too strong, okay.

Q. Talk about the eagle on 15 that really just kind of skyrocketed you up the board a little bit.

SARAH KEMP: Yeah, didn't realize the tee was going to be moved up today. It's a great move-up by the LPGA because it's not an easy -- even short is a difficult chip. Long is difficult chip on that green.

Yeah, it is a smart thing to do I thought. Yeah, just happened to play it perfectly. Got a great bounce from the front of the green and I had, what, maybe five feet for eagle, so that was awesome.

Q. Then just couple more from me. We've seen the course in a few different conditions now. Been real dry, we got rain, now it's been super windy. What goes into preparing for a course that's challenging on its own, but you never know what the elements are going to bring?

SARAH KEMP: Yeah, I don't know, you just sort of wake up and it's going to be what it is. I think tomorrow is the opposite wind to today, and the pro-am I played was also the opposite wind to this, so it'll be more like the pro-am.

Yeah, softer on the first few days, but now it's starting to firm up. I feel like we've all dealt with it before. Conditions change all the time.

So just wake up and look at the weather and deal with it tomorrow morning.

Q. Last one. It's very tight at the top. I think just a few strokes between you and the leader. What's it going to take tomorrow to separate yourself from the pack?

SARAH KEMP: Probably a low one. I'm not sure the wind strength tomorrow, but it's a tricky course. It's not super long, but it's just tricky. Like there are some pin placements you have to be really careful of.

So probably playing smart again, and if my putter can continue to be hot and shoot something in the mid-60s, might be able to get it done.
