EPSON TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

October 7, 2023

Minji Kang

Daytona Beach, Florida, USA

LPGA International, Jones Course

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, I'm here with Minji Kang after her third round at the Epson Tour Championship. Solid day out there today. Can you walk me through your round and maybe some of the differences in today from the past two days?

MINJI KANG: The weather today was very calm, not many wind out there. I think pretty solid round. I hit one bogey. I could made par but I missed short putt for the par.

I think I'm still in good position and I feel good now.

Q. Any extra pressure being in the final group today? I know after the cut was made yesterday and you were in the final group, been near the top of the leaderboard. Any additional pressure you felt today?

MINJI KANG: To be honest, there are some pressure to play in the final round, but trying to play my game, yeah. Just I need to focus what I need to do on the course.

Yeah, that's all I need to do.

Q. Heading into tomorrow near the top of the leaderboard still, still sticking to the game plan? Any adjustments you'll make the last day, maybe being more aggressive potentially?

MINJI KANG: Yes, like today, if I hit short irons in to the course, in the hole, I trying to play aggressively. If there is long club and pin in the side, I'm trying to put in the middle and just, yeah, for the par, to make the par.

Yeah, I think that will be same as tomorrow and little more focus. Yeah, that will be it.

Q. And obviously still the rest of the season, another round tomorrow. You played some really great golf. What do you think this tournament will do for your confidence moving forward into the rest of the season? Do you think it'll help your confidence going into the next few tournaments?

MINJI KANG: Oh, yes, for sure. Like I check my swing, like the shots during the tournament, and then when I like -- if that result is good, the confidence -- like I can get a lot confidence from the shots like during the tournament.

I can do during the practice round, but during the tournament and the practice round is so much different, so, yeah, I think I can get so much confidence after this tournament this week.

Q. Kind of proves that you've been working on some really great things lately, right?

MINJI KANG: Yeah, right.

Q. Anything specifically you've been working on in your game the past few weeks maybe?

MINJI KANG: Like trying to play aggressively. Like I usually play just calm, like be safe all the time, but I learn this year like I need to be aggressive when I need to and just be safe when I need to, yeah.

Q. Anything specifically that you have been teaching yourself throughout the rounds maybe to say to yourself to be more aggressive or where to hit some shots in particular?

MINJI KANG: Especially in the putter. Actually like I usually don't hit like that aggressive in my putter, but my coach always said to me, be aggressive, girl. That way I can make the putts. Like if it's short there is no chance. Yeah.

That's why.

Q. That's something I struggle with, too. So you're looking at some of those birdie putts you have staring them down, clearly done a great job the past two days.

MINJI KANG: Yeah.
