AL DIVISION SERIES: RANGERS VS ORIOLES

October 7, 2023

Robbie Grossman

Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Texas Rangers

Pregame 1 Press Conference

Q. As a guy who's always been good at drawing walks, what do you see in Evan Carter and his discipline and having such a mature approach so young?

ROBBIE GROSSMAN: First of all, Evan is an outstanding kid. He's a heck of a player. Tools aside, you watch his at-bats, he takes them like a seasoned Big Leaguer. It's refreshing and fun to watch for someone so young thrown right into the fire. I'm happy for him because he's playing well for us right now.

Q. Since coming over to the Rangers, what's impressed you most about the team?

ROBBIE GROSSMAN: We have a great clubhouse, a lot of team camaraderie. And the guys get along as good as I've ever been around. And there's a lot of experience. There's a lot of talent in the clubhouse and we're all pulling for each other.

Q. Talk about Garcia.

ROBBIE GROSSMAN: Another guy, take baseball out of it, he's an outstanding human being. One of my favorite players to root for and he is a heck of a baseball player, too.

Q. What do you think is different about the Rangers this year because Bruce Bochy is your manager?

ROBBIE GROSSMAN: There's something to be said about the experience. The guys they brought in, Boch leading us, day one from Spring Training, we knew we had something special in the clubhouse. And you play all year hopefully to play in October, and here we are, and it's right in front of us, and we couldn't be more excited to be here.

Q. There's been a lot of talk about Bochy and his experience. How have you seen this help the team so far, obviously in the Wild Card series and now?

ROBBIE GROSSMAN: You look at a man like Boch that's done it all in this game, that's been there, done that. From day one in Spring Training the belief was there. He's led us the whole way, I'm excited to be on the team and excited to be here.

Q. You've been on some good teams and not so good teams. From afar when you see this Orioles team and obviously a lot of people came from Houston, what do you see? Is it similar to what you guys experienced?

ROBBIE GROSSMAN: Just from the other side, man, they've hit on some young guys, and had really good young players over there. And the future is bright for them. But hopefully not these next five games.

Q. Players will tell us in the postseason the game kind of speeds up, so it's important for them to kind of slow the heartbeat down, how do you do that?

ROBBIE GROSSMAN: I just lean on my experience. I've gotten a chance to play in a couple of these now and it's a lot of fun. It's one of those things I don't think you can fully understand until you're in the middle of it. I'm excited for the young guys on our team, playing in front of a crowd like today and it's going to be a lot of fun.
