SANDERSON FARMS CHAMPIONSHIP

October 6, 2023

Luke List

Jackson, Mississippi, USA

Country Club of Jackson

Quick Quotes

Q. Luke, 66, excellent round. If we can get some comments.

LUKE LIST: Yeah, birdied the first two in the kind of misty rain, which was a nice start. It was kind of tough for the first five, six, seven holes. We were kind of curious if it was going to be like that all day. Fortunately it broke a little bit, and it was still just a little foggy, I wasn't feeling great with my swing, but I was able to make a lot of putts, which was huge today.

Q. Over 150 feet of putts today, quite a round. Have you been putting well?

LUKE LIST: Yeah, Napa I was kind of just squeaking by and not really hitting it great but made some really good putts there, some inside six feet, which has been my nemesis my whole career. Then to come out and feel like on perfect greens if you roll it well, they're going to go in. Just gave myself a fair amount of opportunities and kept plugging along and took advantage of the easy holes on the back nine.

Q. Talk a little bit about your comfort level on this golf course and at this tournament specifically.

LUKE LIST: Yeah, it's in fantastic shape every year. The greens are perfect. You know coming in if you can kind of plot along, keep it out of the rough, take advantage of the par-5s and hole some putts, you're going to be right there on Sunday.

Q. Talk a little bit about the fall and what your goals are. I know you're really wanting to get into that 51 to 60 range.

LUKE LIST: Yeah, for me, where I am, a win would be huge. I'm going to try to just play this weekend and try to keep making birdies. That's what everybody is doing on the leaderboard right now. This golf course with a little rain softened a little bit this morning. Looks like we have some good weather this weekend, but I'm just going to try to attack as much as I can.

Q. What are your thoughts on how this FedEx fall schedule impacts the game, adds some intensity to these tournaments. Is this something you'd like to see remain moving forward?

LUKE LIST: Yeah, I mean, I'm kind of mixed. I think that there's room for a little bit of both. I think that a lot of those elevated events in my opinion should be 120-person fields, but I get the fact that they want the top guys without missing the cut for the weekend for sponsors, so they deserve to be in that position. But that being said, for guys to be able to have a four-, five-month layoff and not play as much, they deserve that; they've earned it; they've played great.

For the rest of us, the fall is a massive opportunity to play well and solidify our position next year.
