THE ASCENDANT LPGA BENEFITING VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA

October 6, 2023

Hyo Joo Kim

The Colony, Texas, USA

Golf Clubs at The Tribute

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Hyo Joo Kim after her second round at the Ascendant LPGA. Another really good round today but what was different from today compared to yesterday?

HYO JOO KIM: My shots were better than yesterday but unfortunately the score wasn’t as good as yesterday. But I did hit the green a lot more so I’m satisfied with that. There were couple misses here and there in the middle of the round, so after I eat, I’m going to practice and work on those.

Q. You talked a lot about your putting yesterday. Can you tell me what it was about your putting that's been so frustrating lately, but you've been doing better this week?

HYO JOO KIM: We did talk about putting a lot. As I was practicing, I thought I figured out something so I really focused on that part so I think yesterday and today, I was able to maintain a good putting stroke and feel.

Q. You hit a lot of fairways today.

HYO JOO KIM: Really? (laughter)

Q. Yeah you hit 12 of 14. How important was that in your game today?

HYO JOO KIM: It felt so bad (laughter). Just not straight. Just a little bit right, a little bit left. I didn’t know but since the result says so, I think I can play with more confidence tomorrow.

Q. So you're several strokes ahead right now. Three strokes ahead. How important is that going to be heading into moving day?

HYO JOO KIM: I was at the top of the leaderboard couple times this season but weekend plays haven’t been as good some times. This week, I’m hoping to focus more on my play and play as well as I did on the first day and today and finish strong.

Q. Last question. Only two bogeys so far. How important is it to keep those off the card on this course?

HYO JOO KIM: You can get a lot of bogeys here because the course is tough. My putting stroke wasn’t bad yesterday and today so I think I got a lot of good saves. I hope to limit as many mistakes as possible in the remaining rounds as well.

Q. You don't really make a lot of bogeys ever. I mean you have a really great soring average this season. How to you limit those mistakes?

HYO JOO KIM: I’m not sure. I’m not sure either. I think just giving it my best in every shot led to that.
