Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Sofia Garcia. Another really solid round for you today. What was maybe different today compared to yesterday?

SOFIA GARCIA: I think overall both days I had a really strong short game and putting. Maybe I didn't hit it as well as I did yesterday, but I was able to stay patient.

I had a couple bad breaks, also couple good breaks. The chipping was working out nicely and the putter was solid, so I think that helped to keep a solid round both days.

Q. Take us through the chip-in. What hole was it on?

SOFIA GARCIA: I had a few chip-in. I wasn't quite -- there were a couple holes where I was not where I was meant to be. I had a solid short game going on and that kind of make me stay patient and I was able to also take advantage of the good shots.

Q. You only have one bogey this entire week so far. How important is it to just limit the mistakes out there on the card?

SOFIA GARCIA: Well, the golf course, it's a bit of both. You have some holes where you can definitely go ahead and be a bit more aggressive, and there is a few others that definitely ask you to be patient, where you're kind of just relieved that you make the par and move on to the next one.

So definitely a golf course that rewards being patient and being able to make pars because it's a challenging course.

Q. I know you went to school here in Texas. How familiar is this course to you, and just what makes this a Texas golf course? You know what I mean?

SOFIA GARCIA: The golf course for sure is a challenging one, and strategic. The weather was nice both days. More than having an advantage of knowing the golf course it's just being mentally prepared to be patient.

I think sometimes we get a bit worked out and knowing how the golf course and working with my caddie in the sense of, okay, we have a plan and we're going to stick to it, that kind of helps; being familiar and being consistent with what we want to do.

Q. Going into moving day where everybody is going to be chasing, how good is it to see your name at the top of the leaderboard?

SOFIA GARCIA: I think today was important in a sense of it was a good round yesterday, and being able to maybe not hit it well but still score, I think that's important. Obviously always want to add that little bit of a -- this round being a solid round, that helps with the confidence, but also helps knowing that the strategy is good and keeping patient as we go through the weekend.
