U.S. SENIOR WOMEN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

October 4, 2023

Brenda Corrie Kuehn

Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

Troon Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. I haven't asked you yet this week, but coming into the championship what were your expectations from yourself, from your game?

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: None. Truly none. I just wanted to just come and compete. You know, try and see if I can -- I don't compete that often, so just try and compete and do the best I could. Regardless if I made the cut, I made the cut, I have no expectations.

Q. Would you say that golf you have played so far was the best you could play? Was it the level you were hoping for.

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: I putted well. I have not hit the ball well.

Q. Okay. Now, you went 3-up on Linda. When that happened did you feel that you were in control of the match?

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: No, because earlier on I was 2-down with two to play and I came back and won that match.

So, no, until match is closed and finished, anybody can win still. So, no.

Q. And what were you feeling in that moment when Linda missed that close put on 16 there?

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: It was not close.

Q. Wasn't close?

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: On 16?

Q. On 17 or 17 when -- just now on the last.

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: Yeah, on the last hole. She probably had a 20-, 25-footer.

Q. Right, no, no, but...

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: It was close to go in but not a close putt. Yeah, I thought -- I was prepared she was going to make it because I thought she was due. She had putted many balls that just burned the edges so I figured she was going to make that one.

I was preparing myself to keep playing.

Q. What was the thought when it didn't go in and you realized you were in the final?

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: Relieved. We had a nice match. She's a nice lady, a really nice lady. We had a good time. Just relieved. You're always relieved when you win.

Q. Couple things I wanted to mention to you. The first being this is your first USGA final championship match, whatever, in over 30 years.

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: (Laughter.)

Q. What comes to mind?

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: Thank you for pointing that out. Again, I did not expect to be here, so I'm just going to go out tomorrow and try to play the best golf I can; try and find the swing and try and put it in the fairway and try and hit the greens and try and putt.

I literally have no expectations.

Q. Okay. Fair enough. In terms of you mentioned not having any expectations going into tomorrow, but you're in the final match now. Anything specific? Hit some balls, anything to prepare?

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: Yeah, because I hit a lot of bad 9-irons and a lot of bad drives. So I am going to try and see if i can find a swing.

Q. So still struggling off the tee?

BRENDA CORRIE KUEHN: Yes, still struggling off the tee. That's the story of my life.
