Quick Quotes Singles

Q. Soaking it all in, when you're standing over a putt, what's going through your mind?

MAX HOMA: I don't know, that was an out-of-body experience. I will say, you know, two nights ago I wanted that opportunity. I missed it against Rosey, and I wanted the chance again. So I just told myself this is what you asked for, so here's an opportunity.

Q. You had a 1/2 point on Friday on a very difficult day for the United States, and you and Brian won both your matches yesterday and then today. Did something flip for you in your first-ever Ryder Cup experience, or did you just get comfortable as you made your way through?

MAX HOMA: Yeah, a little, but I think I just started believing in myself more and more as the week went on. It's just something I typically struggle with, and I honestly think that I'll take what I've learned here with me going further in my career.

But I just had so much fun with my team. I love these boys so much. So you just want to do your best and give the team the best chance they've got.

Q. One of the things that's amazing to me about professional golfers is your guys' course management. Not everybody would have thought of taking an unplayable there. What went through you and that decision over there to the right of 18 green?

MAX HOMA: Oh, it wasn't me, it was all Joe.

Q. Joe Greiner.

MAX HOMA: Yeah. Joe Greiner is the brains; I just swing it. So he -- it was an awful break. I don't know how it didn't get into the bunker. And I was frustrated. My head was spinning. He said we're going to take an unplayable here, chip it down to ten feet and you're going to make it.

Q. Congratulations on the massive point for the USA. It was a great battle between the two of you. How aware were you of what that meant on the 18 from a European perspective as well as from a USA perspective?

MAX HOMA: Yeah, I mean, I didn't know, you know, maybe 45 minutes, an hour ago, obviously, we're just trying to put as many points on the board as we can. But all of a sudden I realised that with two holes left it was -- if Matt could get a half out of me, then it's over. It was nice to see all the red on the board from the team today. So we're just hoping that they can keep that momentum going.

Q. It has been a brilliant fight from yourself and from, like you say, your USA teammates. What was the big message coming out here today?

MAX HOMA: Be ourselves. I think we all know how good we are. Obviously the European Team is very good as well. But I think that all of us know that if we all play to our abilities, we should be in every match and we can do something crazy like we're trying to do today.

Q. You have had the full Ryder Cup experience, controversy, rumours, all of that alongside some brilliant golf from yourself as well. How would you sum up the three days from a personal perspective?

MAX HOMA: Pretty awesome. Winning it obviously is going to be a big change in how I feel about the week, but it has been quite the experience. I'm very thankful to be here.

It has been a wild week. Win or lose, I told the boys who have played on this before, like since I have not, I said please don't take this for granted because this is the most fun I've just ever had on a golf course.
