September 24, 2023

Anna Nordqvist

Andalucia, Spain

Finca Cortesin

Team Europe

Quick Quotes

Q. How much has all your experience in Solheim Cups come into play to secure this point for the Europeans right now?

ANNA NORDQVIST: Well, Suzann had trust in me and she put me out pretty early, so obviously it was a huge honor. I've been playing well this week. I played really well yesterday. I just couldn't get anything going, couldn't make any putts. It was a pretty hard golf course yesterday, but I had a lot of friends and family and team supporting me and pulling me through. It's been a really hard year for me, and I just put every last bit of heart I had left in me to go out there today. It's blowing really hard and I hit some amazing golf shots today. It was really hard.

Q. The emotion comes pouring out in moments like this because in your heart, what does the Solheim Cup mean to you, given the magnitude of the competition and the pride and passion you play with?

ANNA NORDQVIST: Yeah, I mean, it means the world to me and it's an honor to be a vice captain too. My whole family is here. My nieces and nephews have never seen me play golf and to pull through today and get them to see a win. You know, they don't have any voice left, but it's just been amazing to have their support. The team's been fantastic and we knew we didn't get off to the best start, but everyone's been fighting and I know we'll be fighting until the end today too.
