Quick Quotes

Q. Leona, often in team match play, significant moments, pivotal moments. You just made one there at 18. How special was that?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I feel like we played great all day and it would have been really annoying not to come away with a point. So Georgia kept it together on the front nine and then I had a couple on the back and, yeah, it's nice to catch up.

Q. How hard fought was that point Georgia?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, especially because since it's both of our 36th hole of the day. So definitely feeling it a little bit. But Leona's shot on the last was phenomenal and just what we needed and that's why she's such a great player at the Solheim.

Q. What's the significance of that point, given the situation of the Solheim as it stands right now?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I think the Americans obviously played incredible this morning. I think we played well as well. There was no real bad golf out there. So you have to play some really good golf to win a point, even a half point, in these matches, and we'll never give up and I think we showed that out there today.

Q. (No Microphone.)

GEORGIA HALL: Those are memories you never forget. You practice for these moments and it's nice to get a full point on the board. I think me and Georgia were a great team today.

Q. It's been a real grind for every single point and every single ball in this Solheim Cup so far. Having played both times today, how are you feeling? How is the mind feeling, the body feeling?

GEORGIA HALL: It's okay. Me and Leona both played 36 out of 36 today. Hopefully, we won't do that again tomorrow. But it was a great battle out there. I love playing with Leona. We each had a lot of fun. So yeah, really happy to get that point.

Q. It's a long old course, this, but you're going to have to play a lot of holes at times to win points, and I suppose when you get that blue on the board, it must be worth it.

LEONA MAGUIRE: Absolutely. I think both teams are playing incredibly well. It was really tough with the wind. I don't think I ever hit as many 3-woods in my life. But every half point, every point, is really hard-earned and just really proud of the whole team for fighting back this afternoon.

Q. You never trailed during the match today, but it came all the way down here to the last. Leona, holing out there, your pitch to get that for Team Europe, can you take us through the shot?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I mean, it came up a little bit short. My third shot spun back. But it was a really nice chip. Chipping off this Bermuda is quite tricky. I just wanted to get it close to give Georgia a chance to have a go at the putt, but nice to go one better.

Q. You two played together in four-balls as well in 2021. What is it about this pairing that seems to work so well?

GEORGIA HALL: I think our games complement each other really well. Leona's short game, as you saw, is phenomenal. I think having a short iron into some holes that gives us maybe a bit more of an aggressive play. But we get on really well, and I think we know each other's games pretty good. Yeah, it's nice to be undefeated.

Q. What was the discussion like amongst the team after the sweep this morning to come out here and put some points on the board for Europe?

LEONA MAGUIRE: I don't think we did an awful lot wrong this morning. It was just to go out and fight in the afternoon and show what we're capable of. Just really proud of the entire team for fighting. Get a quick turnaround tonight, get some sleep, some good food, and we'll be ready to go in the morning.
