BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

September 16, 2023

Ludvig Aberg

Virginia Water, Surrey, England

Wentworth Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. 66, talk us through that?

LUDVIG ABERG: It was a lot of fun. I felt like I was striking the ball pretty good today even though I had a few left misses with my driver but ended up with some key saves here and there, and then with a few nice shots coming in.

Q. Talk us through 13.

LUDVIG ABERG: Well, first of all, I hit the drive way left and I didn't even know there was a water hazard there. But took the drop, and chipped out and then I ended up making, I don't even know how long the putt was but it felt pretty good when it went in but one of them bonuses I guess.

Q. 66, a great round of golf. You lead by two. First chance to win a Rolex Series Event, you must be thrilled.

LUDVIG ABERG: Oh, for sure. I mean, I think even if I wasn't leading, I'd be looking forward to playing a Sunday round at Wentworth. Such an iconic place and I'm just fortunate to play good golf the last three days and hopefully I'll keep playing.

Q. 66 heading into the final day with a two-tee shot lead and a critically impressive round of golf. You looked calm and relaxed. How did it all feel inside?

LUDVIG ABERG: It was good. I almost got a little bit of way warm up the first two days playing with Rory, a lot of stuff going on. I felt like I handled it well the last two days and did the same today where I kept my feet where they are and tried to focus on one shot at a time. Hopefully I'll do the same tomorrow and play some good golf.

Q. It must be an incredible feeling after that win in Switzerland, your last event, and to be a Ryder Cup captain's pick and to be leading going into the final day. How much do you draw on Switzerland?

LUDVIG ABERG: Switzerland was cool coming from behind with my first win and playing well over the back nine gave me a belief that I can do it and I can do it on this stage.

But at the end of the day, it just golf and that's what I try to do, hit every shot as good as I can.

Q. You're leading the BMW PGA Championship with a round to go. I'm not sure if you're aware of this but your last 11 rounds, you're 52 under par. Is the game just feeling very easy for you at the moment?

LUDVIG ABERG: I wish this game was easy but it's not. I feel like I'm striking the ball quite well, and I'm just trying to take advantage of playing well.

Q. Pretty much everything is new to you in your professional career but your first 54-hole lead in a tournament of this magnitude. How do you approach that mentally? How will you sleep tonight?

LUDVIG ABERG: I'm pretty tired so I'll probably sleep like a baby any ways. It's really cool, all of these experiences for the time I'm having. Thursday and Friday playing with Rory was also new and I felt like I handled that quite well. I'm trying to do the same. Trying to approach it the same way.
