KROGER QUEEN CITY CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY P&G

September 10, 2023

Charley Hull

Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Kenwood Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Charley Hull, our runner-up here at the Kroger Queen City Championship. Really just good round overall. You chased really hard from the first hole. Can you just take us through the round today?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, well, I felt like I actually kind of got off to a bit of a slow start. Should have made birdie at two but the greens are so firm today, and to putt on them was quite like glass.

Yeah, fought back towards the end and made a few birdies coming in. No, I hit a great shot out of the bunker on 18. Had like 175 yards to the front and hit 9-iron to the front edge and that was a pretty good shot.

Q. Yeah.

CHARLEY HULL: I was pretty pumped. Yeah, Minjee played well in the playoff. We both hit some good shots. I thought I had my putt in the first playoff hole; half a ball short, and she just hit a fantastic shot in on the final playoff hole. I thought I hit a good shot into 15 feet and she's hit it into three feet.

At the end of the day she was leading going into the final round and I done my best.

Q. Let's talk about that putt really fast. As you're watching it go, what's going through your head?

CHARLEY HULL: I thought it had to drop, but it almost like went up a millimeter before the hole and just didn't drop.

Another good week, and I can't wait to go home and see my friend, big CH.

Q. What was the read on that? I know you got a ruling.

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah.

Q. So you moved. What was your thought process hitting that putt?

CHARLEY HULL: It was a little bit right to left, five six feet, probably seven feet. Just see it going up and down. I'm quite a good pace putter. I like pace putting. Yeah, just a good putt.

Q. What was your mentality going into a playoff?

CHARLEY HULL: Just go for it. Enjoy it. I kind of like it. But, yeah, she made a good up and down actually in the final 18th hole of the tournament and I hit a great pace putt, but she played well.

Well-done, Minjee.

Q. So playoffs are like match play, and I would be remiss to ask, got to have a lot of confidence going into Solheim, which you do well in head-to-head golf.

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I'm looking forward to Solheim. I'm looking forward to doing some work next week with my coach and just getting into it again and closing out the season. But I am, yeah, I'm looking forward to working hard this winter, and Solheim I'm looking forward to.

Suzann is gonna be a great captain. She's one of my favorite players ever to play the game, so it's pretty cool. Wish she was on the team.

Q. This kind of a tournament, this kind of round, like you said, just a few events left this year. Just how much hungrier does this make you to get that win again?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, like obviously I won in Texas last year and Tour Championships as well, two golf courses that I like. Yeah, just looking forward to it. Be traveling with my friends. They'll be coming over and watching, so it'll be good.

Q. You said you were going to work on some things with your coach. Do you have any specifics from this week that you want to tweak?

CHARLEY HULL: Just...

Q. Maintenance?

CHARLEY HULL: Just maintenance really. Yeah, just maintenance.
