KROGER QUEEN CITY CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY P&G

September 10, 2023

Ally Ewing

Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Kenwood Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, I'm here with Ally Ewing, the 2022 champion of the Kroger Queen City Championship. Great round today to move up the leaderboard. Last day. Can you walk us through the round?

ALLY EWING: Yeah, just really, really solid day, I mean, from tee to green, even around the greens really solid.

I just had one shot that I gave away really and, it was a three-putt, which was kind of unfortunate.

But, yeah, really happy with just how I've defended this week. Following a win is always tough, but I did exactly what I wanted to do and focused on this week and put together four really solid rounds.

Q. Anything that stuck out in particular with your game today?

ALLY EWING: Nothing particularly. I would probably say the last couple weeks I kind of struggled with the longer clubs, so driver, 3-wood. Felt like I got those a little bit ironed out this week, which was kind of good.

Today I drove it really well. Gave myself a lot of birdie looks, which I know if I'm giving myself a lot of birdie looks I've got a chance to go low.

Q. Anything about the conditions today? We've heard they've been a little harder, but what about today?

ALLY EWING: Yeah, just similar wind as yesterday; just not as strong. Course is really, really firm. It's playing night and day different than last year, which may have been a good thing for me to not really compare with how I played last year, because I mean, it was is completely different golf course in my opinion.

But, yeah, just the firmness. A little bit of wind. But you had to make very calculated decisions with some of those pins and the firmness of the greens.

Q. And can you just talk about your mindset going into today, being the 2022 champion?

ALLY EWING: Yeah, to be honest with you, I was kind of, you know, just ready to tackle the final round. I've played six tournaments in seven weeks, and leading into Solheim, I'm honestly just really excited to get in my bed tonight.

I was kind of just pushing through. I had one moment in the round where I told myself, you can be tired tomorrow. That's where I was mentally, being really present in each shot and trying to hit as few as possible.

Q. Smart, smart.

ALLY EWING: Yeah.

Q. Last question: It's been a very busy week for you as well.

ALLY EWING: Yeah.

Q. What's it been like to be back her in Cincinnati this week?

ALLY EWING: Yeah, it's been great. There is always something really special about being announced on the first tee as a champion and have the warm welcome of fans and still engaging, still cheering for me even though I wasn't necessarily -- you know, wouldn't say I was in contention starting the day or anything like that.

The fan support has been great and Cincinnati has been great. I love everything about Kenwood Country Club. Seem to keep putting together some good rounds. Can't complain with that.
