Q. 36 bogey-free holes around here is pretty darned good.

KEVIN SUTHERLAND: I've done a good job of managing mistakes, and I ended up making some pars -- I've made some good pars, especially yesterday, not so much today. I hit it a little better today than I did yesterday. The score wasn't as good. I actually felt like I played a little better today. I feel good about it.

I hit a lot of good shots at the right time, and I'm putting really well, so it's a good combo.

Q. Did you see this coming in here?

KEVIN SUTHERLAND: I don't know. I was home for two weeks. I didn't play Flint. I played a little bit at home. My back is feeling better, so I was trying to practice a little bit more. I was playing well at home, so I was kind of optimistic.

The funny thing about it was on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I was not playing well, so it kind of all kicked in at the right time.

Q. Did you have to fix something?

KEVIN SUTHERLAND: No, I just stayed patient. It just wasn't there. I don't know what was going on. I wasn't putting well. This game is funny. A little bit of confidence is a good thing.

Q. Scores over the last three years and this week have kind of kept progressively getting lower. Is that a natural progression of being at the course now for several years?

KEVIN SUTHERLAND: I think so. I think there's a part of that. I think we get used to understanding how to play the golf course and where are the holes you can be a little bit more aggressive and where you have to be a little bit more cautious.

There's some holes out here that can bite you. 5 is a really tough par-4, and 4 is a good par-3. So there's some holes out here that you've got to pay attention. 18 is a really solid par-4 that you need to hit two good shots. You've really got to pay attention to what you're doing.

But I think ultimately players are getting to understand the golf course a little bit. That being said, the weather this week has been insanely good. Sometimes our scores are dictated by conditions in the weather, and so the weather has been great, and the condition of the course is fabulous.
