ASCENSION CHARITY CLASSIC

September 9, 2023

Brett Quigley

St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Norwood Hills Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. 7-under 64, tied the tournament course record. Obviously made a huge jump on moving day. How does that feel, biggest takeaways from round 2?

BRETT QUIGLEY: Very pleased overall. Got off to a great start and then kind of puttered around there on the front nine and made a nice birdie on 9 and kind of got jump started again. Fortunately made a few nice putts, and all of a sudden it was 7-under.

Q. What have you learned about this golf course having played a couple of tournaments here?

BRETT QUIGLEY: I think this year more than in the past, you've really got to get it in the fairway. The rough is pretty deep for our Tour, which is good, so there's been some jumpers. Great position golf course. If you're hitting it well, you can make some birdies, but it's going to bite you a little bit if you don't.

Q. The first two years no one broke 65. We've now had a rash of 64s.

BRETT QUIGLEY: I think the golf course is a little firmer this year, so the golf ball is going a little farther. The golf course is in great shape, and I think when the guys get good conditions, they're going to shoot good scores.

Q. Would you categorize your year as a roller coaster?

BRETT QUIGLEY: Would you?

Q. Yes, I would.

BRETT QUIGLEY: Yes. I've been fighting it a little bit, fighting the body a little bit. Yeah, and when I've wanted to be here, I've played well, and when I'm struggling, my focus hasn't always been there.

Q. What have the struggles been?

BRETT QUIGLEY: I kind of can't really put my finger on it. I've been thinking about it a lot the last couple weeks because it's been good and bad. It's been kind of either feast or famine, and I'm getting close to the right end of it.

Q. You're in at 10; what do you anticipate the lead being?

BRETT QUIGLEY: It's funny, even seeing the board today, I know it's going to be 15. You have to have that mindset. So not worry about, hey, I'm tied for the lead at 9 or 8 or 10 or whatever. I need to keep going and keep making birdies.

You'd like to make as many as you can while it's going well.
