THE WALKER CUP

September 3, 2023

Stuart Wilson

St Andrews, Scotland, United Kingdom

Quick Quotes

Q. Stuart, the lead not quite as big. What are your takeaways from what you saw this morning?

STUART WILSON: Ideally we would have liked to have maintained the gap going into the singles on Sunday, but there's still a bit of a gap there.

The course changed, like we always knew that the chances of links golf and the conditions changing from one day to the next or one afternoon or one back nine to the next. The guys will be well-versed with the conditions by the time they get out here this afternoon, so it's good they're experienced (indiscernible).

Q. What was your message to the team last night and what will you reiterate before the singles get going this afternoon?

STUART WILSON: We knew the Americans were going to come out hard because that's what they do. They play with a lot of pride and a lot of fight themselves, so it's no surprise that they've come out and played well this morning.

It'll just be the same messaging, to believe in themselves and to trust in each other. I think they'll get all the positives, and I think the result this morning actually might fire them up a little bit.
