Jodi Ewart Shadoff

Portland, Oregon, USA

Columbia Edgewater Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Jodi Ewart Shadoff. Really great round for you today. Maybe what were some of the highlights for you?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: Yeah, got off to a little slow start but the back nine, I think I had six birdies on the back nine, so just really got it going. Putter got hot. I made two or three in a row on the back nine, which is the front nine.

But, yeah, overall hitting the ball well off the tee which I think is key around here. Then just holing the putts. You can fire at pins so the conditions are soft, which helps birdies.

Q. The front nine seems really scorable these past two days. What is it about the front nine that makes it like that?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: I think the pin locations today were gettable, and then I think maybe the two reachable par-5s definitely helped. There were some eagle chances out there, and, yeah, couple par-3s that pin locations were pretty nice today so we can fire straight at the pins knowing that the ball wasn't going to go anywhere.

Q. On a macro level, how did you react when you found out you were unable to make the Solheim Cup team?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: Yeah, obviously it's disappointing. I think Solheim is top of everybody's goal list if you're American or European.

So obviously it was disappointing, but I think Suzann had a very difficult decision. There is a lot of really great European players right on the bubble there that she had to pick from, and I think the team is going to do really good.

Q. Were there any conversations about what you need to do to get on the roster in 2024?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: She just basically said keep playing how I'm playing. I'm playing really well right now and I think just focus on that, and hopefully I'll get on the team next year.

Q. Was there any fuel from missing the team coming into this week?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: Yeah, I think last week I had a top 10 and I think kind of a little bit of extra motivation never hurt anybody, so that definitely helped last week just to light a little fire under me.

So I think on an individual level that actually helped. You know, I'm playing pretty decent right now. I think all parts of my game is kind of gelling together.

Q. What's been the most crucial part of your game to have it gel together?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: I think putting. Putting is always the key. I've struggled a little bit off the tee this year and I just changed a setting on my driver yesterday, or day before yesterday, and I've hit my driver really great this week. I think that's really helped.

Yeah, I love these greens. What you see is what you get. I think putting and hitting some fairways helped me.

Q. What did you change from and to on your driver?

JODI EWART SHADOFF: I went from standard loft and lie to .75 degree (indiscernible). So just kind of was taking the right to left out of it a little bit, just holding it straight.
