U.S SENIOR WOMEN'S OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

August 26, 2023

Leta Lindley

Portland, Oregon, USA

Waverley Country Club

Quick Quotes

THE MODERATOR: Leta Lindley, 4-under, best round of the week here. Just talk us through what was working today.

LETA LINDLEY: Well, I've been playing well all week and really striking the ball well, even when I shot 2-over yesterday, I was really disappointed. I think I hit 16 greens and shot 2-over and felt like I played great. The putts just didn't fall.

I hit the ball well today again, and I just made more putts. I got off to a nice start on 1 and made a curling putt, which was nice to see, to start out that way, and then made another birdie on the front side.

Q. We've only had one round in the 60s this week. Looks like today we'll have five. Was the course playing any differently today?

LETA LINDLEY: Maybe the fairways were running a little faster, so you kind of had to be a little bit more careful. There's some very strategic bunkers out there. But aside from that, I have a tremendous respect for the greens here, and so where I placed my ball was really important, so I really tried to be mindful of that, and I gave myself a lot of opportunities.

I was disappointed to three-putt the one green, I think that was 15. I thought that putt was a little bit more uphill, and I'm guessing it wasn't.

Q. Second year in a row you've put yourself in this position. What did you learn last year that you can take from last year?

LETA LINDLEY: That I can do it.
