FEDEX ST. JUDE CHAMPIONSHIP

August 12, 2023

Taylor Moore

Memphis, Tennessee, USA

TPC Southwind

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess your round today?

TAYLOR MOORE: Yeah, it was really solid. I got off to a good start. I drove the ball really well the first nine holes, hit some nice iron shots in and got into a good rhythm early, so was really pleased with the start, and overall a really good day.

Q. Tomorrow it's supposed to be really hot, even hotter than yesterday, even hotter than today. How does that affect your approach?

TAYLOR MOORE: You've just got to hydrate. I'm just trying to get as much water and salt in my body as I can and limit all the dehydration as much as possible. Yeah, going to be a hot one tomorrow, but looking forward to it.

Q. How are you feeling right now after two rounds? What is your confidence in terms of how you've been able to perform?

TAYLOR MOORE: Yeah, it's been really solid. I feel like I've hit the ball really nice, got myself in some good positions and converted some putts when I've had some good looks. Really pleased with my start, and yeah, looking forward to being in the final group tomorrow with Lucas.

Q. You're going to be one shot back tomorrow. How would you assess your chances?

TAYLOR MOORE: Yeah, solid. I was a couple shots back on Sunday at Valspar and won there, and I think anytime you're within a couple shots going into the back nine on Sunday, you've got a legit shot. Definitely in a good position, and just going to go try to do it again.

Q. Off-course question, with the college football season starting up in a week or so, you're kind of the best guy to ask because I know Texas and Oklahoma are still a year away from joining but you're a Texan but went to the University of Arkansas. What would your message be to a lot of Texas fans that are like, it'll be easy in the SEC? What would be your message to the guys that are looking forward to it?

TAYLOR MOORE: Yeah, that's a great question. I think the SEC is obviously very tough in football, SEC West in particular where Arkansas has played for the last 20 years.

I guess bring it, because it's going to be tough. Those road games, now you've got to go two Ole Miss, two Mississippi State, two LSU, and you're used to going two Kansas and two Iowa State and other places like that. It's going to be a little bit different schedule, but they're in a good spot. Texas has done really well the last couple years, so we'll see.

Q. From a mindset perspective you mentioned last time when you were in the last group, you finished strong. Are you going to be watching seeing what the others are doing in your group? How do you approach that on the last day?

TAYLOR MOORE: Yeah, I think I'm one of those guys that I don't mind seeing leaderboards, I don't mind seeing where I'm at as we're playing.

I just try to get out there and control what I can, just try to hit the best shot I can that's in front of me and move on as quick as I can and add them up at the end of the day. If I do that and don't get too emotional and stay within myself, I think I could have a pretty good day out there.

Q. Your last two rounds puts you in a great position for tomorrow. How do you carry that mentality and be consistent again tomorrow?

TAYLOR MOORE: Yeah, I think I just try to get off to a good start. I'm trying to get into a good rhythm early, hit as many greens as I can, and I think that kind of sets the tone for me, so I'm just going to go out tomorrow and try to replicate that, and we'll see what happens.

Q. Everybody knows the FedExCup Playoffs are a little bit different than a regular event. Do you approach it any differently?

TAYLOR MOORE: No, same prep. It's just a golf tournament to us. Even though it has "Playoffs" by it, all that extra stuff, I think I've taken the mentality it's just another week out here and get myself ready to play before Thursday.
