AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 12, 2023

Alison Lee

London, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Take me through your round today, a little bit different than the past couple days.

ALISON LEE: It was pretty windy out there, gusting pretty good. Starting off the round, I was hitting my tee shots a bit strange. You know, wasn't hitting it the way I wanted to but found a really good swing thought after a few holes and managed to have a really good back nine. Disappointed to finish with a three-putt on the last hole.

But overall, I mean, I feel like even par today is pretty good. I feel like I could have played a little bit better but no complaints. Got one more day tomorrow.

Q. Looking at the leaderboard, seeing the gap has closed a little bit today, what does that allow and your fellow competitors in the field to just do tomorrow?

ALISON LEE: I mean, to be quite honest, with how difficult this course played today, and who knows how it's going to be tomorrow, I think my best bet going into tomorrow is just playing against the golf course. You know, if you hit a bad shot, you kind of hit it into the heather. You can get really unlucky weird bounce or a bad lie; or you can get the opposite, have a good lie and get really lucky.

So yeah, just keeping that in mind and trying not to look at the leaderboard too much because I mean, so much has changed today, and so much can change again tomorrow.

So not going to try and look at the leaderboard too much and focus too much on score, but try and take the battle against the course tomorrow and just have that kind of mindset.

Q. Last question. Solheim Cup coming up. Couple more events to go before that. Where do you think your game is? Do you think you would be a good addition to the team?

ALISON LEE: Yeah, I mean, it's definitely something that's been on my mind and it's definitely a goal of mine. Trying really hard not to think about it too much. This week a lot of the U.S. girls are playing really, really good. It's really cool to see a lot of American flags on the leaderboard.

Obviously right now, I think I would need to rely on a captain's pick, but yeah, just trying not to think about it too much and let that pressure get to YOU. You know, I haven't played in the Solheim Cup since 2015. I had a rough couple years, but to be honest, just being here, playing in the AIG Women's Open, somewhat being in contention going into Sunday, it's a good feeling.
