LIV GOLF GREENBRIER

Brooks Koepka

White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, USA

The Old White

Smash GC

Press Conference

Q. Talk about some of the community outreach things you guys are doing.

BROOKS KOEPKA: I think it's a big thing for us. It's something that's always been important to me. One of the values, I think, we're trying to create as a team. Smash For Success has been good for what we've done.

I think we've maybe done this seven times now, seventh week. We've got a lot of different kids that have come in from different backgrounds. It's been a unique experience for us.

It's crazy to think some of them don't have homes. Some have been kids that are very, very interested in golf, ready to play; some aren't. But it's been fun to have them out and just give them a peek behind the curtain, see what's going on, see how we handle things.

Honestly sometimes we just talk about life. Sometimes that's just what we do.

Q. What was the inspiration for this?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Just wanted to do something where I think -- I've always been big with kids. Adults have had their chances, and I think kids, sometimes access is the biggest thing or tough to get when you're a kid, and I think anytime you can give somebody access, that's a huge piece. It's been cool to see their faces, see what they've done, how they've handled it.

Q. It's not just you, it's your whole team meeting these kids. Just talk about how they've maybe bought into the idea of this.

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, the rest of the team loves it. It's cool, one of those things, like today I didn't say hi to them right before I went to hit balls. When I got done, I went to talk to them. They get watch us warm up, get to -- the access, right, get close to it. Then sometimes they'll ask questions about what we were doing on the range, how we handle things, how we handle pressure, how we handle just the whole thing, spotlight, whatever it may be, or just life in general.

I think the teams have done a good job with it. I think everybody has enjoyed it, everybody has done their part, which is huge.

Q. To be selfless like that, talk about the gratification; does it ever get old when you do these things?

BROOKS KOEPKA: No, it doesn't get old for me with kids. I think that's the big thing is like I said, adults, whatever, they've -- whatever. But when you see a young kid, just signing a flag for them and you see their face light up, they don't even know who you are half the time, but it's cool for them.

Q. In West Virginia golf is a pretty popular sport here; I'm sure you've see that with the galleries. For you to be able to come here to this state, what do you think the implications are for the kids and the rest of their lives when you think about something like that?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, it's cool. Me, I was a big sports nut, so anytime I was able to go see somebody that I enjoyed, whether it be baseball, basketball, golf, football, doesn't matter. It kind of -- you find somebody to root for, somebody to follow, somebody to cheer on, and I think that's what the world needs, right?
