Q. Steve, start with the obvious highlight. Talk us through it.

STEVE ALKER: Yeah, it's pretty special. It was a good number. Actually I don't know if it was a good number, it's so windy out there. But yeah, 7-iron, hit a great shot in there. Just tried to follow the line. Yeah, it was a good shot. Sometimes you hit a lot of good shots but doesn't go in.

Q. At the time, 6-over par, how important was experience and patience, just telling yourself to hang in there because something will happen?

STEVE ALKER: Yeah, exactly. You know you have 18 coming up, so if I can get under par coming in, that would be great. I did that those last few holes but yeah, just a tough day. That's all I can say, yeah.

Q. With wind like this and added win, what are your thoughts on playing those sort of conditions?

STEVE ALKER: Yeah, just go out and try to hit the shots. Today we played in this wind, so hopefully it's the same direction. But expect anything. Of course if it rains, it will play longer but I think this wind will prepare us for tomorrow.

Q. How excited to have an opportunity to win the Senior Open tomorrow?

STEVE ALKER: Yeah, very special. I think I'm just lucky right now. I shot 5-over par today and I'm still in it. As long as that happens -- just got to hang in there, and improve from where I am today.
