Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Angel Yin. Shot a 4-under today. Great round. Can you talk us through just a few of the birdies you had out there today.

ANGEL YIN: I actually had quite a few birdies and then I had quite a few bogeys. I had a bogey from like I think 16, 17, feet, so really stupid.

But, no, it's a long round. Course is really difficult. View is really nice so it does get difficult at times, but I held it through. Played good golf and was able to make birdies and capitalize on that.

Q. What can you say about the conditions out here? You mentioned a little tougher. I've heard about the fairways being a little tighter, greens a little undulated.

ANGEL YIN: I mean, I think I've been playing here seven years now, so it's nothing new. Course is difficult, but just like, I mean, I was thinking this on one hole -- and I'll probably get so much heat for it -- but it feels like Pebble.

We're on the side of a hill. It's not like we didn't do that on Pebble. View is nice. We're not right on the ocean but we have such a view of the entire city and on the other side it Switzerland.

Weather is obviously amazing right now. Usually it's pretty hot or raining, something is happening. It's actually just really nice out here.

Q. When you start on a hard golf course like this, you finished strong with the three birdies in the four-hole stretch, how do you maintain your mental energy to get through a back nine like this one?

ANGEL YIN: Well, I started out my back nine with really, really stupid bogey, so I was looking at the hole and I like three-putted. I think that kind of woke me up. The four-hole stretch I had three birdies, like on 18 was a straight go for it, like second like a shot 5-iron.

But I just feel like this golf course is really difficult so I laid up and chose to play it safe. I think this golf course is just like that. If you miss it wrong you get penalized.

Like 6, one of my bogeys I missed it incorrectly and just an automatic bogey. I mean, you just really can't -- but if you miss on the right area it's an easy up and down.

Q. How much of an advantage is your length when it's a little bit damper out here?

ANGEL YIN: I don't think it's that much of an advantage. Obviously hitting 3-woods off the tee so I guess there is an advantage.

At the same time I'm hitting my 3-wood where people will be hitting the driver. Some girls, not all of them.

So I'm just playing the golf course. I'm really -- like this year my strategy is just to go with the golf course. (Indiscernible) second shot back, but just be in the fairway, because I think that's most important here because it's is a undulating and demanding on your shots.

Can't really miss it.

Q. Talk a little bit more about go with the golf course. Is it just playing with what it gives you?

ANGEL YIN: Yeah, exactly. Whatever the layout is I'm just going to play it. To me, that was like pretty similar in Pebble. I don't think I could have forced it. I just played with the golf course. It gave you more back when you played with the golf course.

Q. Can you tell us what happened on 15 with your shot that went left when the kid...

ANGEL YIN: Yeah, the kid was really, really happy. Like he got my golf ball. I was like far away and I saw his arm go up like this.

So then like thank God my caddie was up front and he chased him down. I don't really know the ruling if a kid does take my golf ball, but, yeah, we found the golf ball.

I gave him and his sister a golf ball. Traded it for my actual golf ball I needed to play.

Q. He seemed pretty happy. What was the rule?

ANGEL YIN: Just kind of where he was standing, yeah.

Q. Have you experienced anything like that before?

ANGEL YIN: Yeah, I have. In Korea some lady took my golf ball. I know she took my golf ball, but it was such a far walk down, it was an elevated shot, had to hit down, and I saw this lady bent down. Oh, my God, I think that's my golf ball.

I didn't chase her down. We didn't know, so we just said it was a lost ball. It was really difficult to say because it was like -- it was like not even 50/50. It was less than that. I just had the feeling it was her. My golf ball was gone.

I was in contention.

Q. Nelly Korda I think on the last round here someone picked up her ball.

ANGEL YIN: Yeah.

Q. Had you seen your caddie move that quickly before?

ANGEL YIN: He was already up there so it was good. I mean, he plays tennis so he does run. With a bag on your shoulders it's not fun.

Q. Amazing, great round.

ANGEL YIN: Thank you.

Q. Last question from me. You are toward the top of the leaderboard, what are you hoping --

ANGEL YIN: Top of the leaderboard...

Q. -- to do tomorrow out there?

ANGEL YIN: Play golf. This course is so hard, so I think it's like Juan says, go with the flow.
