Quick Quotes

THE MODERATOR: We are with Elizabeth Szokol and Cheyenne Knight. Take us through your second round here at Dow, your first four-ball.

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: I think I got off to a good start. I think we played good on opposite holes, which helped.

Yeah, we made a lot of birdies. Our goal was to get to double digits. Elizabeth made a nice birdie on the last hole to do that.

It was good. Not a lot of mistakes. One small little mess-up, but we recovered well from it. I think we're good for the next two days.

THE MODERATOR: Ten birdies; just what was working so well today?

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: I think like Cheyenne said, I don't think we birdied any of the same holes, so that was good. We both had a lot of good opportunities. It was nice to have two balls on the green and two putts at it, two chances for birdie. But we never birdied the same hole, so just a lot of birdies. We played solid.

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah.

THE MODERATOR: Just for the average golfer how different is it going from alternate shot to four-ball, and then what's going to be kind of the mentality? What can you take away from this round into tomorrow?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: I think alternate shot is just different. It is hard. But on this golf course you still have to make birdies, and we shot under par.

Yesterday in alternate shot and last year we shot 4-under. You can do it. You just have to have the right mentality. You just have to be aggressive. The greens are soft.

Then four-ball you can make a lot of birdies, and you're not really expecting to make a lot of birdies in alternate shot. Just a lot of pars are good.

Yeah, I think the best way committee we can kind of get it around tomorrow to kind of shoot under par, that will be nice.

THE MODERATOR: Then last one from me. You kind of alluded to it, but running it back again after last year's third place finish, what was the mentality heading into this week?

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: We're just such good friends, so I feel like we get each other on the golf course, so it makes that a little bit easier.

Yesterday we were, like, we're just going to go and play. It's nerve-wracking, the alternate shot, but we're just going to go and play golf.

I know Cheyenne can make a lot of birdies. We had fun, and that's just the mentality. We played well last year, and we're just keeping it going.
