Highland Meadows Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. 18 not exactly the way you wanted to close out the round, but just overall this third day, what was going through your mind and how did you prepare for it?

MATILDA CASTREN: I mean, I prepared for it as I did for the other days. I'm pretty happy how I played. Obviously bogeying the last hole always sucks. Especially when it's a shorter par-5. I got a little unlucky on the course a couple times. I had a really bad lie on, I think it's 14. When I bogeyed I was kind of like in the lip of the bunker. And here I hit the cart path when I was like playing for a layup. So not exactly what I wanted. But really happy how I'm hitting the ball and how I'm putting and rolling the ball. I've been making a lot of putts, which is really nice. So I'm, I may not seem as happy as I am, but I am very pleased with how I'm playing.

Q. We had the nearly four-hour delay today with everything that was going on. But you were able to turn it around as soon as you came off the delay. Take me through that birdie streak there on the back nine.

MATILDA CASTREN: Yeah, I hit a couple shots pretty close. I managed to make some birdies there. But I was actually feeling quite tired after the delay. It was long one, much longer than we anticipated. Somehow that just happens in Toledo. But, yeah, I'm happy that I kind of got it going afterwards and just gave it a little extra push and just stayed really came out there. I've been really stressed this year about golf, so I've been trying to stay more calm and like just think of it as a bigger picture, rather than like focusing on some things that are maybe not so helpful in the moment. So I'm really happy how my thought process has been these last few days and I hope to keep it up tomorrow.

Q. We have seen low scores on the final day come back to win this tournament, so no one's truly out of it. For you, what will you go in with tomorrow knowing that you have this kind of change in the way that you processed the last couple of days?

MATILDA CASTREN: Yeah, I mean, I know it's going to take a low one to win it. No matter who it is. No one is really safe out here. So, yeah, I'm just going to go as I did, go, as I went going into today. Just trying to do the same thing. Just trying to be calm and focus on the things I can control and just kind of let it happen.
