Quick Quotes

Q. 65, how happy are you with your work out there this morning?

GRANT FORREST: Yeah, delighted. It was quite nice conditions at the start. A lot of rain overnight, so the course was playing softer. It wasn't too much wind early on but yeah, with a few deluges on the way around, I didn't make it that easy for myself, especially on our back nine, but managed to make a few good saves, a couple of good par putts, keep the momentum going, and then nice to finish with a two on 9.

Q. How important was that after dropping a shot?

GRANT FORREST: Yeah, I played 8 just how I wanted. Yeah, just hit a poor first putt, missed the second one. Yeah, just 9, that's a hole, you walk away with 3, you take that. Gave myself a look and it went in.

Q. Do you feel you've set yourself up well for the weekend? There's plenty of birdies out there as you say?

GRANT FORREST: Plenty of birdies. But it's tricky. A few holes playing difficult with the opposite wind today. If it picks up a little bit, it will be tricky. All in all, delighted.

Q. A lot of low scores coming in this morning. Has that change of wind made it a little easier this morning?

GRANT FORREST: I would say so. It's just there's more -- the wind has been more right-to-left than left-to-right, as opposed to inward, so it does give you a few more chances. But I think the main thing is the greens softened up overnight, so you can attack the pins and get a bit closer.

Q. Would it be fair to say that those deluges we had are proper golfing weather?

GRANT FORREST: Yeah, it's Scotland. This is summer. It's a little bit of luck where you are on the course when you get them. I was on the 7th tee, 500 yards straight into the wind and rape. I hit a great shot but probably lost 30, 40 yards. All of a sudden I have a 5-wood in instead of probably a 5-iron. It's a little bit of luck but that's links golf.

Q. How do you blank it out when the rain is pelting down with that ferocity? How do you ignore it?

GRANT FORREST: Just try and hit your shot and do what you can, that's all you can do. On the 7th, it was fine when I put my ball on the tee peg and then by the time I hit it, I was soaking.

Q. A very, very good score overall but you were saying that there were things that you can improve on. Is that just a real sign of the standards that you're setting yourself?

GRANT FORREST: Yeah, I think so. I think we are all -- there's no such thing as a perfect round of golf. You can always improve. I felt it wasn't quite as good tee-to-green today as it was yesterday, but you know, managed to get the score done.
