Quick Quotes

Q. Today 35 on the front, 35 on the back, 2-under, three birdies. Can you maybe walk us through your round?

KURTIS BARKLEY: Yeah, I did my job today. My caddie and I worked great today. Fairways and greens, like I try to always do. I played a lot of percentage golf, and I made a lot of great putts that didn't fall today. It was unfortunate. But I kept a great attitude.

James and I, we talked through every shot, like to the back of the green, to the pin, where the miss was, and basically I was just getting a lot of greens in regulation, getting good looks.

Made probably a 65-, 70-footer on 17 and a great up-and-down on 18 to finish the round.

I said yesterday I was going 70. Hopefully I can back that up again tomorrow. But I just play one shot at a time and look for the good breaks and ignore the bad ones.

Q. I know you said yesterday you felt like it was right there and you were going off to the putting green. It sounds like you made a couple more putts today. Was there anything specifically differently you were trying to change up?

KURTIS BARKLEY: It was just basically my caddie and I looking more into the putts. We would circle, we would agree, disagree, walk some of the green. The green got me yesterday. The green got me a few times today, but I hit a lot of putts right on my mark, where yesterday I think there was two that were totally my fault that I missed. Today was trying to play boring golf, and that's what I accomplished.

Basically I want to do that tomorrow. Hit a lot of fairways, hit a lot of greens. Take 15 greens and 32 putts, I think, so we'll take that and move along to tomorrow.

Q. Right now 2-under in the clubhouse is low round of the day. How does it feel to go around the course and do exactly what you were looking to do?

KURTIS BARKLEY: I just did my job today. Just tried to outplay the course and stay positive when putts didn't fall.

Hitting my mark is all I could do. Whatever happened after two feet after I hit it, I couldn't control. I'm just going to go out tomorrow and try to do the same and hit a lot of greens and give myself some chances out there.

We'll see what tomorrow comes. Hopefully it's some good weather like we had this morning, and we'll stay positive with James on the bag. He picked the mark on 17, and having that roll in was great. He was just as pumped as I was.
