Pebble Beach Golf Links

Quick Quotes

.

Q. The back nine has been kind of tough on everybody here. Did you feel like it was tougher this afternoon with the wind?

ANGEL YIN: I mean, the back nine was definitely tough. I think the front nine played a little bit tough, too, because of the wind. The course is just tough, and the greens are pretty bumpy in the afternoon, and it got really, really slow. Kind of have to adjust to that.

Q. It was kind of an adventurous 18 for you, but you were able to hole that last putt to save the bogey and end the round.

ANGEL YIN: Yeah, I did that. That wasn't really a question.

Q. I was going to get to that. How did you survive out there with all the circumstances?

ANGEL YIN: I mean, I felt like I played quite smart. Missed it where I needed to miss it. It wasn't like I was hitting 100 percent shots. I was missing them still, but I was missing it in the right places, and coming into this stretch I started missing it in the wrong places.

I started eating it up when I started missing it bad, obviously, and I wasn't playing very smart. This course is more about where you're missing it, where you're placing your golf ball. I think that's the most important thing.

Q. You got to 2-under; what were you doing well to that point?

ANGEL YIN: Missing it correctly. I was missing it correctly, and then I started missing it incorrectly. Paid the price for that.

Q. Tell me about the birdie at 14.

ANGEL YIN: I hit my 3-wood, chipped, almost went in and then made my putt.

Q. How far was it?

ANGEL YIN: My putt was like three feet. Three, four feet, something like that. Three feet probably, four feet.

Q. Do you still like your position even though you're at even par? You're really not that far off the lead.

ANGEL YIN: I mean, I would have been happier if I sat at 2-under when I finished my round, but I'll take even. I know this golf course is difficult so the scores can bounce up and down.

Also it's very gettable at times, so if I go out there and miss it correctly like I want to, then it's going to show up.

Q. Are you a player that doesn't mind wind and conditions like this?

ANGEL YIN: I mean, yeah, you don't mind it because I've been playing golf for a while. As a pro, you have to adjust to it. Would I like to play in no wind? Yeah. But it is what it is.

Q. What have you thought of the setup this week? Putting the fact that we're at Pebble aside, what have you thought of the setup of the course this week?

ANGEL YIN: I think the setup is good. Got some long holes, got some short holes. They actually have been really kind to us where they've cut down the rough in some areas because it could have played harder and more penal if they had the rough longer.

I wish the greens were a little bit faster, but there's a reason to probably why they're setting it up like that.

But other than that, course setup with the distances, I think it's great. Showcasing the entire golf course.
