Q. You've just eliminated the top-seeded player here at The Amateur Championship, you must be very proud of your play today.

CAOLAN BUFORD: Yeah, I played pretty solid. Did all I had to. I knew if I stuck to my game plan, my golf will take care of it, and thankfully it did.

Q. What was the game plan?

CAOLAN BUFORD: Just not to push, really. Stay patient. Not give any holes away. I feel like if I don't do that, my playing partner ends the hole, that's a much better way of losing the hole. Just stayed patient, that's all, really.

Q. You played a preliminary round this morning, as well, how did you go?

CAOLAN BUFORD: I was a bit rusty this morning but got the job done. This afternoon I had to play good against the highest-ranked player in the stroke play, and I played really good. Take that into tomorrow.

Q. I mean, it must be a huge confidence boost, this afternoon's match for tomorrow?

CAOLAN BUFORD: Yeah, definitely. Obviously he's the most in-form player after the two days, so to knock him out, it feels good.

Q. Coming into this week, how has your form been?

CAOLAN BUFORD: Not the best to be fair. Yeah, I didn't really expect anything this week. So to perform and to get to this stage is really good. Keep playing good golf, hopefully progress even further.

Q. Any holes that stood out as highlights?

CAOLAN BUFORD: Yeah, 17, definitely. I mean, I was 3-up and then made a few mistakes, went back to all-square through after 16, and then holed a good putt, like 18, 20 feet for birdie on 17 to go 1-up down the last and then played 18 really nicely to finish it off.
