Eric Cole

Oakdale Golf & Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Great playing. Your career low round on the PGA TOUR with a 9-under 63 to finish. What was working so well for you out there today?

ERIC COLE: Well, 63, almost everything was working pretty well. But, yeah, it was more just those few holes, 3 through 6, on the front are so difficult. Just trying to kind of survive those. Then once you get through those you have some scorable holes if you hit it in the fairway. I was lucky to make a few putts, too. So it kind of worked out on the back nine.

Q. You had the, obviously, the runner-up at Honda earlier this year, but this is an unfamiliar position for you on the PGA TOUR, sticking around, waiting to go see what happens this afternoon. What does the next hour and a half or so look like for you?

ERIC COLE: Well, I'm probably just going to relax. I don't really know where the leaders or leader is. So probably just watch a little golf and kind of rest up a little bit.

Q. Lastly, looking ahead to next week, how much confidence does this give you going into the U.S. Open, a round like this and a great result like this?

ERIC COLE: Yeah, it's great. You know, this course isn't probably going to be as penal as the U.S. Open. But it is a very tough course and you have to hit it where you're aiming. Playing out of some of that thick rough probably will be good preparation for next week.
